Will we never get to page six?

I have a strong feeling we will.

I am in the midst of transferring around 50 or so episodes of BACHELOR FATHER to DVD...you know, this was a very funny show!

I remember it very fondly, too.

There is not too much new on tv this week. But i am curious will anybody be trying either of the 2 new shows on this week?

I think they are both thursday at 10pm. RAINES seems to be some sort of a police/psychic show. And the other is OCTOBER something (road maybe) with the girl from THAT 70s show. I believe the former is also being repeated friday at 10pm.

I know that LOST is new tomorrow. And I am pretty sure MEDIUM is a repeat. But I think UGLY BETTY will be new on thursday. Hard to follow!

I began my afternoon with the 1948 MGM version of THE THREE MUSKETEERS. It's entertaining if a trifle slow in spots. No, DR Elmore, Constance does indeed die in this version.

The transfer is a mix of good and bad. It's sharp and relatively clean. I didn't notice any spotting or speckling, but there were a couple of errant hairs that made their way onto the frame. And the Warner technicians obviously turned down the vibrancy of the color. I had to open the menu on my TV and dial up the color a couple of notches to get the richness I wanted (didn't have to do that with SINGIN' IN THE RAIN or ROBIN HOOD, that's for sure).

Yes, it is OCTOBER ROAD. After reading about it this morning, I have no interest in it. RAINES is a mystery so even though Jeff Goldblum is not especially a favorite of mine, I will watch it. Sounds like there will be a bit of GHOST WHISPERER to it.

Both of them have already filmed their episodes and are here only for a limited run.

Neither has gotten very good reviews from the ones I've read.

As a matter of fact, there is, DR Ron Pulliam!  I decided, instead of fainting, to eat my last 3 coffee-flavored Hershey's dark chocolate kisses.

Or from his chest! When we first see him, his shirt is open, and he has a maginficent hairy chest. Later in the film, when he strips off his shirt, his chest has been shaven clean. Bah!

No, Jeff Goldblum ("Raines")  may just be my least favorite actor EVER.

As for "October Road", I find it rather pretentious that any town would have a road named "October", and one of the previews has some idiot declaring, "Just remember which side of October Road you came from."

Ho-hum.  Almost as mindnumbing as "Dawson's Creek".

Copper fennel is easy to grow, perennial and a host plant for butterflies. If I can't kill it, "it's a good thing".

I put out some dill. I should throw some fennel seed out, too.

Next, I put in the James Bond film YOU ONLY LIVE TWICE. I haven't seen it in a long time, so I thought I'd check out the transfer, especially since Amazon is offering a sale today of all four Bond sets for 65% off. A great deal (comes to about $6 a movie for each two disc set), but I don't need to replace any of the Roger Moore ones, and the sets scramble the various Bonds around in them. You can't buy JUST the Coinnerys or the Daltons.

The difference between the peasant D'Artagnan and the newly civilized D'Artagnan?

I couldn't get past the first 30 minutes of the movie.  The excessive sword fighting they foisted upon us with Kelly and the mickeymousing of Herbert Stothart's stodgy score (surely one of the scores that gave him a bad rep) had me scrambling for the remote.

There's a plan!  And it's much more enjoyable than fainting in the "ladies'"!

Anyway, when I put in YOU ONLY LIVE TWICE, I had to go back into the TV menu to dial the color back down as it made everyone look like they had burnt skin.

I know the new Bond transfers have cleaned up a lot of the dirt and damage that was just ported over from earlier transfers. This film does have lots of black dirt specks, and the process work is especially grainy and ugly looking.

Still, I'm going to hold out for Blu-ray versions of the Connerys even though it'll be a year or two before they come out. I can make do with what I've got until then.

They're clearly trying to get there in time, and the suspense is pretty well done by George Sidney, but they don't make it.

And I'm off!  I have a date with my friend Val.  She and I are going to see ZODIAC.  It will be nice to see her and gossip about life at Barnes & Noble.

I just got my shipping notice from Amazon today for the Blu-ray version. That means I can't expect it until at least Friday, and possibly not even this week depending on what the mailman feels like carrying.

Was that during the "Thou Swell" number with the Blackburn twins?

I've gotten it from film music fans...and they don't usually know from Broadway music.
