I have lurked and lurked and now have caught up.  The wages of sin. (possibly a Drude reference - or maybe a Druid)

Qu'est-ce que c'est ("to be", NOT "to know": "sais" is from "savoir"! One had to KNOW that!

Oh, I quoted some of the French clichés that are part of that Little Mermaid song Les Poissons!

;)

In the meantime... Walk down to Levain.  :)

Oh but Jerry Springer would be so much more fun and he's from Ohio.

Rene Auberjonois - Les Poissons Lyrics

Les poissons
Les poissons
How I love les poissons
Love to chop
And to serve little fish
First I cut off their heads
Then I pull out the bones
Ah mais oui
Ca c'est toujours delish
Les poissons
Les poissons
Hee hee hee
Hah hah hah
With the cleaver I hack them in two
I pull out what's inside
And I serve it up fried
God, I love little fishes
Don't you?

Here's something for tempting the palate
Prepared in the classic technique
First you pound the fish flat with a mallet
Then you slash through the skin
Give the belly a slice
Then you rub some salt in
'Cause that makes it taste nice

(Zut alors, I have missed one!)

Sacre bleu
What is this?
How on earth could I miss
Such a sweet little succulent crab?
Quel dommage
What a loss
Here we go in the sauce
Now some flour, I think
Just a dab
Now I stuff you with bread
It don't hurt 'cause you're dead
And you're certainly lucky you are
'Cause it's gonna be hot
In my big silver pot
Toodle loo mon poisson
Au revoir!

In less than an hour, I'm leaving to work concessions for Leftover Stories to Tell: A Tribute to Spalding Gray, a touring version of THIS.  Spalding Gray actually performed here in Olympia at the Washington Center.  I ushered for it and was able to get his autograph for a friend of mine for her birthday (she wasn't able to go to the show).  She was a big fan of his.

Good Afternoon!

Well, I just took care of some unpleasantries - a.k.a. bills.  Ugh.

But then I went ahead and showered and shaved, washed some dishes, and now I'm having lunch: yogurt and granola (a.k.a. my "other" breakfast).

I'm playing a very brief set of auditions in midtown around 2:00, and then I think I'm gonna spend some time in Bryant Park, and then grab a bite to eat at Grand Central before heading on up to Westport for tonight's show.

Sounds like a plan to me.

Do they still have basil infused hot chocolate in Bryant Park?

Some days they do, some days they don't.  It seems to be sort of random lately.

DR Jane - Yes, there is nothing around Dulles Airport.  IAD is it's own kingdom so to speak.  Alas, most of Northern Virginia is not pedestrian-friendly, unless you count malls and "Towne Centers".  So, you could always stay at Dulles Towne Center or Reston Towne Center.  You'd have a nice choice of hotels, and some decent shopping.  However, as for nature and scenery, not so much.

As for a taxi to IAD... The cheapest alternative - depending upon where you end up staying - is take to take the free shuttle bus from the West Falls Church Metro Station.  So, if you happen to stay in DC, you could always just take the Orange Line out to West Falls Church and go from there to IAD.

When I have a bit more time to think about, I'll post more.

Les Parapluies de Rochefort et les Demoiselles de Cherbourg!

I really anticipate the day when I can settle in for an HDTV Plasma viewing of "The Umbrellas of Cherbourg."  It's so achingly beautiful as to require a special frame of mind.
