I'm going to try not to watch the entire season again in one sitting since they're so entertaining that I don't want the enjoyment to be over so quickly, but I couldn't resist watching one more. This is the first one to feature Frances Sternhagen as Brenda's mother (inspired casting)

At first, Joanne Woodward was being considered, but I can't think of anyone more perfect than Frances Sternhagen. She has the look and the accent!

This season, I believe we will be meeting Brenda's father.

Also, Kyra will be on the cover of next week's TV guide, with a very nice article. THE CLOSER, by a viewer poll, is the most anticipated summer show, way higher than anything else. Hurrah!

Back from the mail place, but they're very behind there, so I'll have to call later and see if any packages arrived.

I have two little packages to ship, so I'm debating whether to do it now, or wait and see if any other payments come in.

Dear Edi ... I REALLY love your new "publicity picture" that you are using now...... very nice !!

As it turned out, there were two different articles about the show. The editor who asked for my picture ended up using an awful picture of me that they have on file. It was taken when we got a group of neighbors together to protest the loft before it was built. We were instructed to look P.O.'ed.

So now, whenever I write a letter to the editor, they use this angry picture. Usually it's appropriate, but not this time!

I'm almost tempted to go back to Carney's.  I could go there and eat by myself, whilst going through the script for next week's reading, or I could get it to go and eat here whilst sitting on my couch like so much fish.

I was here.  And now I'm back.  In the meantime, I took care of some things around the apartment.  And watched the first post-Rosie episode of "The View"...  -At least Audra McDonald was on today too.

How . . .

I think Joanne would have been a little softer in her interpretation (based on her Amada in THE GLASS MENAGERIE), and that wouldn't have worked quite as well. Frances and Kyra have a very similar facial structure that makes them VERY believable as mother and daughter.

Having seen the shows and knowing the guilty parties ahead of time, it gives me a great chance to see just how cleverly the mysteries have been put together with the subtle clues that are dropped amid all the other information that looks so much more on point (but often isn't.)

I just LOVE this show.

DR elmore - Well, at least your home (early).

As for the subway, couldn't you walk over to the A/C, and then take the C up to 81st and walk over from there?

Or over to the B/D/F/V/N/Q/R/W up to Herald Square, and then hop on then either stay on the B, or transfer to a C Train?

...And have I mentioned that when I played Passion at Signature Theatre, someone had a heart attack in the audience.  -And the house staff managed to get him out of the theatre without interrupting the show.

...And there was another myocardial infarction during Eleanor: An American Love Story at Ford's Theatre...

...And another one at Clemson University when I was there with Anything Goes...

Well, aren't you just Typhoid Mary?

DR Jose - years ago DH Richard (maybe he was still my DB then) and I attended a concert by our local symphony orchestra.  During some concerto, the piano soloist got so lost that even having the conductor shout out measure numbers to her didn't help.  She finally just put her hands in her lap and shook her head.

Maybe DR Elmore was at that concert, too?

Yep! Poor Pat Sebald.

Back from annoying errand.  I suppose some excellent vibes and xylophones for a good end to May and a great June would be very much appreciated around these here parts.

I love that lady! I haven't seen her in a while, and I usually see her at Joe Allen's.  I haven't seen her sons Tony or Paul in a while, either.

I was lugging three heavy volumes of the Kurt Weill Edition.  I wasn't walking any more than I had to.

TOD:

The Ritz
Yentl

I agree with both of these...but I have the Region 2 DVD of Yentl from England.  You'd think that if they can release it anywhere in the world, they'd be able/willing to release it in the US. :-\

Also:

Song of the South
The Boy Friend

And of course Ring of Fire with David Janssen...but that's for a co-worker, not me. :)

As for DVD releases stage productions that have been filmed/broadcast on TV:

Ain't Misbehavin', Pump Boys and Dinettes, Romance/Romance and Pacific Overtures!!

MBarnum, have you ever seen Srinivas Krishna's film MASALA? I saw it at the Toronto festival about 15 years ago (a friend of mine mixed it) and I thought it was a great first effort.I think you would like it!

Heading down now to get a jump start on the evening's viewing.

I cleaned the living room this morning, so I have nothing to do but settle in with a cold drink and do some viewing.

I have not heard of this movie, but I have now added it to my Netflix queue! It sounds very interesting.
