Good Morning!

Well, I allowed myself to just lie in bed this morning and listen to WQXR for a bit, but once 8:00 came along, I've been puttering about every since.

I just did a quick scan of the posts, and thanks for all the Travel Vibes. They are much appreciated. My train leaves at 10:30, so, I will be heading down to Penn Station shortly. And then I'll be incommunicado for the next six to seven hours, so... Call me errant and truant and hit me with the bitch-slap machine, but it just can't be helped.

OK... I have one last bit of packing to take care of...

It's a glorious piece, about 12 minutes long, based on Nursery Songs. I recognize "Boys and Girls, Come Out to Play," "A Frog He Would A-Courting Go," "Oranges and Lemons," and "Over the Hills and Far Away." It's very much like Quilter's arrangements of old songs like "Drink To Me Only With Thine Eyes," and beautifully scored and written.

Based on a listening to their newly released CD, I'm inclined to agree with what this review says of the group. I find their singing pretty much on the flat side. They lack the--i don't know--texture?--that other three part harmony groups like the Andrews Sisters, the Maguire Sisters, Manhattan Transfer and the Roches ably demonstrate. Once the novelty wears off, it gets a little tedious.
