Yes the building is better than the footage. It has decayed and needs some TLC, but with a little TLC it would be fabulous again. It's structurally sound it was designed by William Steele who was big in the Prairie Style of architecture.  We have a alot of examples of his work in Sioux City, but I believe this was one of his last.

Would preserving the facades (like they do in London) be an acceptable solution?

Speaking of tender...

And why do people think he's "attractive"?

I just learned that the wonderful Anita Morris and Grover Dale have a son in the business, James Badge Dale.  Anita's best friend was Mrs Ron Raines, and she just informed me of this fact.

Sorry I hadn't bothered to mention this before. He was a regular on '24' for a good bit of the second season until he sacrificed himself to save others.

No, he didn't give his life, only his hand/arm. I can't remember now which it was.

No, I haven't bought cables or splitters from Radio Shack in quite awhile. Their prices have gone up ridiculously.

I began my afternoon of viewing with, what else?, THE CLOSER. This was the episode with the woman shot dead in her house, discovered by the mailman. A good episode with many surprises.

It also marked the return of Ray Wise, this time functioning as Brenda's attorney, and he's just flat-out great. He made a great vice-president on '24' a couple of seasons ago, too.

I watched an ANGEL episode next. In this one we learn that Cordy's pregnant and also harboring a rather important secret.

But the horned demon was at last defeated. Angellus, unfortunately, is still at large. Wes freed Faith from prison so she could help him track and get Angellus under control.

Next, I watched Kathy Griffin's MY LIFE ON THE 'D' LIST from last night. Some fun new people on her "entourage," and her new male assistant was hilarious oogling Kelly Pickler when Kathy did THE VIEW.

I did manage to finish FROM THE TERRACE, but I am really glad I didn't spring for the DVD. Though the ending made perfect sense, it was a long, irritating road to get there.

Today has been quite interesting.  I've spent time with:

-a Russian environmental scientist looking for funding to translate a book

-the library's early literacy specialist

-a public school teacher who runs an urban volunteer program for high school students

-a counselor from a local university who wants me to do grants training for her staff

-a community organizer who's helping someone secure a piece of property for a new nonprofit

And, I've successfully used our brand new self-check system to borrow an audiobook  ;D

I watched a little bit of WAY OUT WEST. I had watched it before, and while it's an OK William Haines movie, I prefer his silent films, at least of the ones I've seen.

Richard Barrios is co-hosting the gay festival with Robert Osborne.

I ended the afternoon watching another ANGEL episode. In this one, Faith and Wes finally track Angellus down, and we find out who the deep-voiced master is who's pulling all the strings.

Connor is thrilled to be thinking about becoming a new daddy.

Tonight, I'm going to be watching THE LOVED ONE after I watch one more ANGEL episode. That will help me finish off that disc in the set. One more disc to go to finish out ANGEL's fourth season.

What's happened to his nose?  I might have to re-classify him from "exceptionally handsome" to "kind of has that Harry Connick thing going but eh".

Good news just came in on the musical theatre project: our formatting of the new scores has been approved, which means we will not be closing down.  Now if we lease on the new office signed, we're good to go for a while!

Maybe I'll start sleeping easier.

It plays much better in one sitting.  IMO, of course.  And it's a sumptuous feast in letterboxed stereo DVD!  A grand melodramatic soaper with a most attractive cast and one of Elmer Bernstein's finest scores.

I found that I just didn't like any of the characters in FROM THE TERRACE. Yes, it's sumptuous looking (Woodward has never looked so glamorous), and the Fox Movie Channel broadcast the wtereo surround track.

But I just didn't enjoy spending time with any of these people.

You're right.  The second photo is much more fetching.  The top photo makes it look like he's missing the front of his hair.
