As for the whole Kander & Ebb, Jones & Schmidt, etc., discussion... I believe "they" are basing the length of the career from the first Broadway show by each team to their current (new and running) Broadway show.  Productions of new works Off-Broadway and regionally aren't being considered.

And then we'll have to see what "they" will be saying when and if The Visit, The Minstrel Show (which I think is now being called The Scottsboro Boys, and even All About Us make it Broadway over the next couple of years.

Ah, but what would things have been like without them?

I acknowledged they might just before I announced the hopeful news.

I certainly have believed in them in the past!

I just looked up Maltby & Shire's college recording of Cyrano and Grand Tour[/u] which were recorded in 1958 and 1959.  Doesn't that make them a longer partnership than Kander & Ebb, too?

What's the date of their last collaboration?  MIRETTE was Harvey's last with Tom, but John and Fred would still be working if Fred hadn't died.  Maltby and Shire, like Kaufman and Hart, work on separate projects and isn't BIG their last?

Hmm... Scandinavian sounds good.  However...

After reading the following article in today's NY Times Dining & Wine section, I'm wondering if we shouldn't just all put in a couple of bucks and chow down on a whole pig at Momofuku Ssam Bar or Daisy Mae's BBBQ?!?

DR Jane - You may want to abstain from reading the above article.  ;)

I wonder if my DeepDiscountDVD order will ever arrive? I paid for postage rather then going for the free postage...and yet...nothing has appeared.

They're probably so busy laughing themselves silly over the order that they haven't entered it yet.

Do you hear that, Amazon?  Do you?

Just something random:  When I was in high school, I played in a piano quartet (2 pianos, 8 hands) and it was a fantastic experience.  About a month ago I was thinking about that experience and had a thought.  What if I recorded some of those quartets on my own?  So, I went out and purchased a few titles - William Gillock's "Champagne Toccata" and Ingolf Dahl "Quodlibet on American Folk Tunes"  the latter being quite technical.  Anyhow, I started the "Champagne Toccata" today and I must say, it's easier with 4 people!!!  More later....

Question for bk - What is the new Kritzerland release?  Have you mentioned it?

Second question for bk - When you started the "other" label, you were on record as saying you wanted do strictly digital sales.  If that's so, are you planning on going that way with Kritzerland in the future?

I'll announce the new release on Monday.

My idea with the other label was to do strictly Internet sales and forget about brick and mortar.  It was a revolutionary idea at the time (remember, both Ghostlight/Shk-a-boom and PS Classics had yet to "borrow" the label business model that I'd created), and no one was willing to do it.  With Kritzerland, I have taken the distribution by others out of the equation.  I do not sell to stores unless they agree that there are no returns.  I believe other labels are already thinking about "borrowing" that, too.  So, for Kritzerland, it's Internet only and certain specialty shops around the world.  I sell far fewer copies than I normally would, but I don't get any returns and that's the way I want it.

BK, is the new release an actual completely brand new CD and not a reissue?
