Oh, I don't think I originally mentioned STRICTLY BALLROOM. I just said that I didn't like the stage play of MOULIN ROUGE when what I meant to say was LA BOHEME. But thanks for the reminder...I'd like to see STRICTLY BALLROOM again!

Oh, I get it now...Elmore was referring to HIS liking "Strictly Ballroom" despite NOT liking "Moulin Rouge" which was never on Broadway.

Is this where they teach Sherlock how to train you?

 ;D

Last week we learned how to teach a dog to surf the counter & steal food.  It was very entertaining. ;D

I just listened to her show. That was lovely! I love her voice so much that it was a thrilled hearing her say my name! But she didn't mention how much I liked the contributions of her "man in NY". Maybe she'll mention that before your next segment?

When I heard her mention your name I thought that would be the tie-in to playing one of my segments, but no luck.

She just got a new shipment of reviews so maybe in the next week or so she'll play a segment and mention your letter again.

I did laugh when she mentioned you standing in your yard with a short wave radio  ;D

Well, you'll have to mention THE BRAIN when it's in the festival...maybe she would play a cut from it!

I love Strictly Ballroom:

There are NO NEW federation steps!

Liz: What do I want? I'll tell you what I want! I want Ken Railings to walk in here right now, and say 'Pam Shortt's broken both her legs, and I wanna dance with YOU!'

[the door flies open. It's Ken]

Ken: Pam Shortt's broken both her legs, and I wanna dance with you.

Kylie: That was unexpected.

Just had a nice e-mail from proofer number two, who loved the book and has her corrections (which she says aren't many) ready for me - so I'll drive out and pick it up after the Joan rehearsal tomorrow.

My remodeling story:

As you know, we have built a new section onto the theatre - reference rusty spade photo.

Well....because it is attached to the shop end of the original structure, fire laws call for 4 1/2 inches of drywall on the separating wall.  And so the NORTH wall of the new structure was built with 4 1/2 inches of drywall.

Inspectors say...NO....there must be 2 1/4 inches of drywall ON EACH SIDE.

So we must now move EVERYTHING out from the south wall of the shop downstairs and the costume loft upstairs, so that 2 1/4 inches of drywall can be put up.

The contractor is assuming the cost for the extra drywall.

DR Jane, I wasn't fishing for an invitation. But thank you. I doubt we'll be up in Oregon in November, but if we happen to be, we'll give you a call!

Ah, yes, Inspectors. We were not so lucky as to have the contractor pick up the expense for the mistake it made that had to be corrected so we could get our occupancy certificate.

Link to the first week of construction.

It's nearly complete now!  ;D

Except for the 2 1/4 inches of drywall....  :P

It is already programmed into the cell phone, dear.  Just don't forget the American Express card!

Thanks for the travel vibes!

I haven't been to Atlantic City in close to two years and am looking forward to it.

Are all of the matinee ladies going, Fred, or is it just you?

Another movie musical ruined by miscasting a central actor: ON A CLEAR DAY YOU CAN SEE FOREVER. Dump Yves Montand, replace him with Robert Goulet (back then), and you would have had a much better film.

Hell, replace him with Elliot Gould and you have a better movie!

TCM's Gay Images in film continues tonight with TEA AND SYMPATHY, but I'm more interested in STAIRCASE which is being shown at midnight. I've never seen this, and while I understand it's terrible, I'm interested to see what Stanley Donen did with these two male stars in such an offbeat piece of material.

Oh, Matt, are you sure you want to subject yourself to STAIRCASE, especially just before bed?
