Although, knowing how citrus juices don't always cook well, I'm guessing he probably made a standard caramel sauce, and then thinned it out with some grapefruit juice and added some diced jalapeno.

Hmm... Now I want that trio of sorbets they serve at Zaytinya in DC: blood orange, black walnut and olive oil(!).  Sooooo good.

Well, I'm off to the theater for our last Friday night performance!  We have tonight, tomorrow night and Sunday matinee...then we're done with "Taming of the Shrew...in Hell!"  Have a good evening, all!

DR George-If your sky light works fine, no leaks or anything, I wouldn’t touch it, mess with it & it might leak.  Just my words of caution.  And what if it rains?

I just realized the other day that the day the new Harry Potter book is released, July 21st, is a Saturday.  Which means that I will not get my hands on my long ago ordered copy from Amazon until the following Monday, since it will be delivered to my office.  I could spring for another copy to be delivered to home, but I doubt that there is any guarantee that it will arrive on that day anyway.  Arrrrgh!!!

I thought books could only be shipped the same day the books go on sale in the stores, no sooner.

We had a difficult discussion to make today, see 1408 or Harry Potter.   After all the raves about 1408 we decided HP could wait.  ;)

Actually, I think DR George does not have a skylight, but was thinking of putting one in.

I think.

Hmm... So one of the roomies - yes, the "loud" one - is hosting a birthday gathering for herself here at the apartment on Sunday.  She had a Fresh Direct order come in today.  Eight big boxes.  And she apparently has some more groceries being delivered tomorrow.  Right now, the refrigerator and freezer are now full(!).  And her beef - hamburgers and skirt steak - is due in tomorrow.  Hmm...

When I asked her earlier how many people she was expecting, she said, "Oh, about 50."  But I thought I detected a hint of "joke" in her tone.  However, after looking at all the food that is currently sitting in the fridge, on the counters and on the floor, I'm beginning to suspect that maybe she wasn't joking.  -And with at least two dozen freshly ground hamburger patties due in, and a couple of pounds of skirt steak (she's going to do a chimichurri), well...

Of course, while she was unpacking her groceries today, she "reminded" me, that, "Oh, you know you're invited too, and that you can bring anyone you want."  -And I think the other two roomies were invited in the same way.  Well...

Now I'm wondering two things...

1) Whether or not I should go see a show Sunday night after playing A Chorus Line that afternoon.

and

2) Whether or not to "remind" her that the propane tank for the gas grill was not completely full when we got it last summer, and that since we've used it a couple of times already over the past few weeks...  But I guess she should take care of that herself since it's her party.  Or she'll just find out on her own how full the tank is.  Or is not.

Oh... I forgot to mention the five pounds of potato salad, the five pounds of fruit salad, and the four dozen Hebrew National hotdogs.

And this from the woman who never seems to have any money.  ???

I'd certainly leave the discovery of the tank situation to her. As with all of us she will blame Jose anyway.

...And the really "sad" part about all of this is that we - myself and the other two roomies - would be more than happy to help out with the party.  I mean, how she's gonna prepare food for 50(?) in our relatively small kitchen, and have it all prepped and staged by 2:00 on Sunday afternoon is a total mystery to me.  -Although, I guess that's why she sprung for the pre-chopped fruit and veggies, and pre-made salads.

But to be fair, she did ask me how long I thought her skirt steak should marinate.  And I did help stash the three big bags of potato chips, the three bags of tortilla chips, the two cases of beer, the four bags of hot dog buns, etc., etc., etc...

:-\

So, I guess it's fair to say that I'll probably be seeing a show or going to a movie Sunday night.  -And God help here if when I get home, and the kitchen is not cleaned up.

Of course, they're also predicting thunderstorms for Sunday afternoon.

Hmm... Although, I guess I could always check the tank for her later.  Well, I could check it a few times... open the valve... close the valve... open the valve... close the valve... ;)
