Yes, I was surprised when I took Sugar out about 7:30, that there was a fair bit of residual dampness showing on the ground. I didn't hear the rain though....so I must have been sleeping pretty well.

DR Pogue: I hear you're a big Sherlock Holmes buff. I just started (in earnest) a large collection of the Holmes novels and short stories. Just last night I finished "A Study in Scarlet" and started up on "The Sign of the Four." Literally starting from the beginning. I've also read a couple of the short stories, which have been lots of fun. Any favorites that you recommend?

After 11 and a quarter hours on the road yesterday, DH Richard and I arrived home late last night. We made a hospital stop in Noblesville, Indiana, to visit one of the distance learning classmates who was unable to attend last week's residency and will, sadly, not be able to complete the program.

We were very glad to be able to sleep in our very own TempurPedic bed last night. I think the mattress in the student apartment was the one we gave away sixteen years ago!

January 12, 2002 - the day I moved here. I was just barely 25 and I moved here to live and attempt to work. What impressed me the most was that anyone could figure out where the hell they were going in Penn Station, which is where my train dropped me off from MacArthur Airport. I was also impressed by the architecture, the lights, the sounds, the smells, and the huge crowds of people, even though it was really, really cold that night. I was most surprised by the cost of living. Still am.

I got here via Southwest Airlines into MacArthur Airport in Ronkonkoma, Long Island, where I caught the Long Island Railroad into Penn Station, where I started to have a panic attack because I couldn't find my friend. I had a suitcase, a backpack and a dream... My souvenir from my first trip to New York...? My first apartment.

I first went in the early 80's with a friend, a theatrical lighting designer, who had a buddy pass, and we just went up for the weekend. We walked about half the length of the island because we didn't know how to use the transit system. I don't think I've ever walked as much in my life. We didn't have any money so we didn't get to do much.

Now my friend lives in NY so we see him when we go up there. I may bring him to THE BRAIN. This same friend is the person who had a copy of TFNM and we watched it way back when and would often quote from it and so in a way he's responsible for me bring here!

My first trip to NYC was during winter break of my freshman year in college, I was either 17 or 18 at the time. I came out to NJ to visit a friend and we took the train into the city. We saw How to Succeed which at the time was starring John Stamos. I bought the souvenier program to remember the trip by.

Yes I had a very nice trip to Montreal. But my timing was off. I missed the Jazz Festival and the Comedy Festival. Next year I will go earlier.

I did see one of the countries involved in the Fireworks Festival.

Welcome back, DR MusicGuy! I spent yesterday moving, too...it's going to take weeks because we're doing it little by little, in stages, as various rooms in the new house get finished. Yesterday I filled my car just with china. Boy...that Portmeirion is some heavy stuff! Today I'm doing wine glasses and more dishes...I hope the glasses make it there in one piece!
