Yes, I was surprised when I took Sugar out about 7:30, that there was a fair bit of residual dampness showing on the ground.  I didn't hear the rain though....so I must have been sleeping pretty well.

The minister has two more sermons: today and next Sunday. And then I will be in charge.

Big morning greetings, hugs, and po-po slaps to dear sweet DR Jose !! (when he returns from lusting after  working with dancers)  :)

Sunday morning greetings - better post this fast for that greeting to be valid.  How did it get to be noon already?

The board meets this week and hopefully will make some decisions. So I guess I won't be in charge anyway.

I've spent the last couple of days in Louisville at the Galt House at the Edgar Rice Burroughs Dum-Dum. Dum-Dum in ape language (according to ERB) means the gathering of the bull apes where they all dance and screech at the moon.  Most of the "Bull Apes" in the Burroughs Bibliophiles these days are rather grey and we allow She-Apes as well.  But the fandom is getting older...I guess all things Tarzan and Burroughs' other creations do not thrill youngsters as they once did.   I went mainly to pick up a few souvenirs for Harlan Ellison and to see a few old friends like Denny Miller who was in attendance and, as always, it was great to see him and his wife, Nancy.  We had several laughs.  And I had to sign several copies of my script for the still unproduced PRINCESS OF MARS which was being sold there.

Ahh....the Gaudy House. I hear they've done some major renovations there in the last few years and that it's now quite lovely inside. The last time I was there, it looked like something straight out of the Brady Bunch...very dated.

DR Pogue: I hear you're a big Sherlock Holmes buff. I just started (in earnest) a large collection of the Holmes novels and short stories. Just last night I finished "A Study in Scarlet" and started up on "The Sign of the Four." Literally starting from the beginning. I've also read a couple of the short stories, which have been lots of fun. Any favorites that you recommend?

Safe travel vibes to BK!

Good audition vibes to DR Jose!

After 11 and a quarter hours on the road yesterday, DH Richard and I arrived home late last night.  We made a hospital stop in Noblesville, Indiana, to visit one of the distance learning classmates who was unable to attend last week's residency and will, sadly, not be able to complete the program.

We were very glad to be able to sleep in our very own TempurPedic bed last night.  I think the mattress in the student apartment was the one we gave away sixteen years ago!

LOL, DR DearReaderLaura!  Actually, my system might still be on Central Time, so I guess it feels like only 11am.

TOD for all DR's.

When was the first time you went to NYC?  How old were you?  Why did you go?  What impressed you most?  What surprised you most?  How did you get there?  Do you still have any "souvenir" or remembrance you got while you were there?

January 12, 2002 - the day I moved here. I was just barely 25 and I moved here to live and attempt to work. What impressed me the most was that anyone could figure out where the hell they were going in Penn Station, which is where my train dropped me off from MacArthur Airport. I was also impressed by the architecture, the lights, the sounds, the smells, and the huge crowds of people, even though it was really, really cold that night. I was most surprised by the cost of living. Still am.  ;) I got here via Southwest Airlines into MacArthur Airport in Ronkonkoma, Long Island, where I caught the Long Island Railroad into Penn Station, where I started to have a panic attack because I couldn't find my friend. I had a suitcase, a backpack and a dream... My souvenir from my first trip to New York...? My first apartment. :D

Sitting at the airport waiting for my flight to board - did you know that can be sung to the tune of: Standing on the corner watching all the girls go by

Or: Sitting on a cornflake, waiting for the van to come...

If I didn't have to wear my battery pack for my microphone, I could die twenty feet off a cliff backwards down a couple of stairs AND fall out of the box when I make my entrance....oh well.

Please don't die, JRand!---that would really put a damper on the show!

I first went in the early 80's with a friend, a theatrical lighting designer, who had a buddy pass, and we just went up for the weekend. We walked about half the length of the island because we didn't know how to use the transit system. I don't think I've ever walked as much in my life. We didn't have any money so we didn't get to do much.

Now my friend lives in NY so we see him when we go up there. I may bring him to THE BRAIN. This same friend is the person who had a copy of TFNM and we watched it way back when and would often quote from it and so in a way he's responsible for me bring here!

OKAY

Finally caught up on over a week of postings.

So I might have missed the following:

1) Has the show that Cindy Williams is doing been announced?

2) Has the name of actress who is doing the Brain been announced.

I didn't realize tickets are available for the festival. Can someon please post a link to the website. I no longer have it.

Thanks

My first trip to NYC was during winter break of my freshman year in college, I was either 17 or 18 at the time. I came out to NJ to visit a friend and we took the train into the city. We saw How to Succeed which at the time was starring John Stamos.  I bought the souvenier program to remember the trip by.

I have had a cold all week- the cold itself hasn't been that bad. The problem is the hacking cough that starts the minute I lay down. I have not had a decent night's sleep in a week!

To answer Singdaw's question of a few days..........

Yes I had a very nice trip to Montreal. But my timing was off. I missed the Jazz Festival and the Comedy Festival. Next year I will go earlier.

I did see one of the countries involved in the Fireworks Festival.

I have been watching Miss Baayork Lee, et al, doing "Turkey Lurkey Time" on You Tube.

That is her in that number, right?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EktVzsYjMJk

My DH and I watched that, too and have been laughing about it ever since and trying to duplicate (without success) some of that weird chorepgraphy!

When was the first time you went to NYC?
October 2005

How old were you?
a year and 1/2 younger then I am now

Why did you go?
Everywhere my feet could take me!

What impressed you most?
the variety and diversity of people

What surprised you most?
That all of those New Yorker stereotypes are for real
The unusual odors of the city
The food wasn't as expensive as I was expecting.

How did you get there?
By plane and then by bus.

Do you still have any "souvenir" or remembrance you got while you were there?
My NY friendships and my police car salt and pepper shaker set.

Today I'm heading into New Jersey for a Newark Bears game. I'm not a huge minor league baseball fan, but a group of friends are all going so it should be a good time.

DR JRand - Nothing "special" about any of the chosen dance attire at this morning's auditions.  Although, there is one young woman who is wearing a white "top" (looks like a one-piece bikini) with sheer black leggings.  Consequently, you can see her "underwear", so to speak.  But it doesn't look unseemly.

But are the sheer black leggings "unseamly"?

I am finally hooked up and working with my laptop again

 :o

Welcome back, DR MusicGuy! I spent yesterday moving, too...it's going to take weeks because we're doing it little by little, in stages, as various rooms in the new house get finished. Yesterday I filled my car just with china. Boy...that Portmeirion is some heavy stuff! Today I'm doing wine glasses and more dishes...I hope the glasses make it there in one piece!
