From Starbucks, I brought back an oatmeal raisin cookie.  Sure didn't measure up to Levain  :P

i don't enjoy any of their baked goods, don't know why cuz there must be some discrepancies from region to region.  for some odd reason keith still continues to buy me treats from there if he goes in for coffee without me.  i do enjoy their hot chocolate.

Starbucks used to have a good molasses cookie, but I haven't seen one of those for a while anywhere.  They probably wouldn't measure up to the ones that Angela, one of our departmental aides, brought in for Halloween - hers were divine!

They are just starting to air the first episode of DIRT here on our Bravo.  I was wondering if anyone here watched it (DR MattH?). Is it any good?

RE: last night's UGLY BETTY.

Oh yes they were rude! (at WICKED). However since it played an important part of the story i was okay with it.

I must say i loved most of the show. Especially everything they showed of WICKED.  The best part to me (besides them showing the songs) was that they matched up the songs with what was happening with the characters. I loved that part of it. And when betty and henry were stuck in the air. Well that was just too good.

I also loved having vanessa williams be in the stall and overhear marc and amanda. That was too funny.

The only part i really didn't like was that betty and henry were not able to watch WICKED together. It was really funny watching them text. But i really wanted them to get to see at least some of the show together.

And i loved the parts with justin and his playbill collection.  I especially loved how that one scene came back later on.

Only 5 pages on a Friday afternoon?

TOD - been listening to Chess this afternoon.  A mix of the Concert CD, the London CD and the Broadway CD.

Matthew, which release of the concert version do you have?  The original (and rare) version that (if I remember correctly) was recalled and which has 24 tracks on disc 1 and no bonus track on disc 2 or the second release that has fewer tracks on disc 1?  I actually have both here at work.  I also have the Swedish cast recording.  I really like this, but I would love to have a translation of the lyrics to the new stuff. :)

I liked it.  Courtney Cox plays a VERY different character than Monica from "Friends."  There is a lot of sex in this show, too...so if watching that isn't your cuppa, then you might want to pass. ;)

Anyway, I just got back from the follow-up appointment at the second-opinion vet about my cat, Ebonie, and she DOES NOT HAVE TO HAVE HER CLAWS AMPUTATED!! :D The vet said that they don't even need to do a biopsy!  She (the vet) said that there still is a little residual swelling, which should go down, but that it's a LOT better than it was last week.  Se said for me to continue with the ointment for about a week more (and finish off the antibiotics that I got from the first vet), then that's it!

These days are just unbelievable, but the good news is that I did so much work yesterday and last night, that aside from about an hour's worth of stuff, I'm done for the evening.  I think I won't go to that party - just make some pasta and relax.

The first of the band/performer rehearsals was splendid.  We didn't have two of our six band members, but they still sounded great.  And these singers are just amazing.  Everyone was appreciative of the little diagrams they got, along with their show order sheet.  Hearing all these songs back to back made me feel a little more comfortable that the evening will be entertaining.  A couple of the charts we wished we'd had more time with (with this many singers, you just plow ahead), but we have built in an hour on Sunday to run problem charts with just the band, which will be very helpful indeed.

Uh... it's hard to tell.  While there is no track listing with numbers on the jewel case or even the booklet or the CD. iTunes tells me Disc One has 11 tracks and Disc Two has 9 tracks.  There is nothing to indicate a bonus track anywhere.  It's going to go on eBay soon, is this really rare?

That is the version I have too DR Matthew. No bonus track that I can remember!

The price in the UK (Amazon) is quite high!

...

Jane, I'd been gone from A2 almost 10 years before Zingerman's was founded.  I haven't been anywhere in Michigan for 5 years or so.  I think we'll try to get up there sometime in 2008.

Of course, Zingerman's does have a website...

Wait...did you mean this 1994 "Chess In Concert" recording?

I was wrong...I was thinking about THIS recording...and it's not a concert recording.  It's from the 2001/2002 Danish tour, sung in English.  Check out the tracks!  This eBay listing (with which I have no affiliation...other than I bought a copy from this seller) says:

Quote
This is the RARE and out of print of this SUPERNICE cd set !! This 2 set CD was released in 2001 and withdrawn not long after due to Benny & Bjorn objecting to the extra unreleased material included.

The cd was re released in 2003 WITHOUT lots of the material included on this version. On that CD was only the "remix" of One Night Night In Bangkok, not the rare songs that are on this one !!The songs are sung in English.

The cast of the danish version are from both Denmark, Sweden (here is Gunilla Backman from Swedish cast of Chess in Swedish) & Germany.

Only on this version of chess will you find the extra tracks like Commie Newspapers, Der Kleine Franz, The Soviet Machine, etc.

Once again this is a complete recording of the musical chess and is the only version to include these songs not available on the U.K. concept album or the original broadway cast recording.
This CD set is MINT & UNOPEN SILL SEALED IN PLASTIC.

The extra tracks not on the 2003 release are (from disc 1):  #3-"Commie Newpapers," #4-"Press Conference," #16-"Der Kleine Franz," #23-"Anatoly and the Press."  From disc 2: #2-"One More Opponent" ("You and I" is on the re-release, but as its own track), and #8-"Talking Chess."

The eBay ad says that disc 2, #3-"The Soviet Machine" is unreleased, but it's on the 1992 "Chess in Concert" CD.
