Good Afternoon!

Greetings from Fairfax, VA!  We're about to sit down for The Meal.  My Mom ended up volunteering today back at her old nursing home, so we're waiting for her return before we all dive into the food.  Otherwise, a bunch of kids and bunch of adults and a whole lotta food. :)

The plane ride was nice and uneventful.  And fast.  We actually landed 20 minutes ahead of schedule.  So, all in all..

-An hour and a half to get to the airport.
-Five minutes to check-in and get through security.
-One hour of waiting to board my flight.
-Fifty minutes to fly from JFK to IAD.
-30 minutes from IAD to my brother's house.
-A nice six-hour "nap"...  Aaaahhh.... :)

She was an English girl married for years to Peter Potter, didn't he do JukeBox Jury.  She did some television work, but not a lot Stateside.

Then I would say she probably did Peter Potter.

My sister drove to Playa del Rey last night, in order to start cooking first thing this morning. I'm going to walk her dawg around 3, then head down for the festivities. All the original siblings will be there, Tami, Penny, Rikki, Mike - and all the next generation, except Tami's boy, Jesse and his wife Jill and their soon-to-be son. Rikki's daughter is bringing Thanksgiving orphans from work, and Rik's daughter in law's gay uncle and his companion will be there, too. Gonna be a real horde, I tell ya!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO WON ONE AND ALL!
[/color][/b]

I am getting ready to head out to Thanksgiving dinner with my friends Sharry (The Legend) O'Hare and Micheal O'Hara.  However, I couldn't leave without giving thanks to God for this site (HHW) and to BK and this wonderful group of friends and (yes) family.  Every night in my prayers I give thanks to (1) my friends, (2) my family, and ( 3)to my friends who have become family.  That is how I think of all of you.  I feel honored to know all of you.

Turkdy, ham, stuffing, mashed AND sweet potatoes, roasted brussels sprouts, green beans, gravy, two kinds of cranberry sauce - cheese assortment and crackers, crudites, and my giganto salad of baby greens, crumbled Gorganzola, candied pecans and pears, with a balsamic vinaigrette dressing on the side. Two kinds of cakes, a pumpkin/gingerbread trifle, and two kinds of pie. A big bowl of toffee. Sodas, wines, ales, beers.

BK, you may be interested to know that Baden Powell's classic 1964 album with Paul Mauriat has finally been released on CD--Le Monde Musical de Baden Powell.

Didn't Paul Mauriat record LOVE IS BLUE?

Stage One of The Meal is now winding down...

There was a LOT of food on the table, and there are gonna be a lot of leftovers!  Let's see... We had...

Turkey - 20(!) lbs. and deep-fried(!!)
Honey-Baked Ham

Corn
Green Beans
Spinach Salad with Strawberries, Poppy and Sesame Seed Dressing

Then the Parade of Starches:
Mashed Potatoes
Baked Sweet Potatoes
A casserole that my mother improvised out of Yams, Persimmons, Apples and Bananas, Maple Syrup and Marshmallows.  -Quite good, and the persimmons and bananas were a nice touch.
Steamed White Rice
Arroz Gandules
Papas Fritas (a.k.a. French Fries)
Tostones - fried green plantains
A loaf of Italian Bread
Potato Rolls
Corn Bread

The desserts are still waiting in the kitchen.

In New York?  I believe I did.

Why do you ask?

So...  Back to the Local One Strike for a second... Well, at least a post or two..

Was there any mention of the strike during the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade this morning?

And with The Grinch reopening tomorrow, I'm wondering if Patrick Page (a.k.a. The Grinch) will insert any ad libs - since he does ad lib during the show - concerning the ongoing strike and the current legal machinations regarding the reopening of The Grinch?

My brother, Mike, just gave the go ahead to turn on the TV to watch the footballs games.  However, in the words of my father, the games being broadcast today are, "Sucky!".  ;)

Hi all.  I think I over did it.  I had walked a half a mile on the treadmill then walked down the street to get the paper (I wanted to see the sale paperwork).  I had a heck of a time finding someplace that had a paper so I had to walk all the way to Winn Dixie.

Anyway, after I posted here, I thought I would go and watch "Project Runway".  I fell sound asleep in the chair.  I don't know if I stopped breathing -- Bear nuzzling me woke me up.  I wonder if I scared him.

You know both dogs accepted my machine with no problems.  I thought they would be scared of the sound.

They did mention that several shows are "dark" and that they hoped it would be over soon.

Ok. Everything would have come out on time if the turkey hadn't been done an hour early.
