I've declared work for the day done, and am now watching Twin Peaks.  Steak was just what the doctor ordered.  The doctor and I have had several of these occurances where we both have the same food.  Strange.  Odd, even.  Or even odd.  If you're odd can you be even?  If you're even can you be odd?

Well... It's DR Jason's last night in the city before he heads out for his tour, so we're going to meet for a quick bite to eat, and then a movie. :)

TOD:

My first memories of music on "record" were 78s...my grandfather lived with us and he had a radio console.  The top lifted up.  In the side were storage bins for the records.  My favorites were Les Paul and Mary Ford ("The World is Waiting for the Sunrise" and "Whispering").  I was four or five years old.

I remember listening to, and doing, "The Bunny Hop" with my parents and their friends in our living room.  That was one of the big radio hits of the early 1950s (don't pin me down and expect a year, 'cause I cannot remember THAT well).

Danise, I'm glad you mentioned that is a dragon.  I have to look very closely to see it.  I just adore your new avatar.

This is a really lousy year for Chanukah to be early.  I haven't begun doing my holiday cards.

Sorry, that was WELL before MY time....but do tell us about it from your own personal experience.

And let us know what it was like fighting in the trenches in France during WWI.

I got home from work, I had a bowl of leftover chili, I took a nap, I refused to get up just because der Brucer came into my room announcing the DVDs for Doctor Who - The Complete Third Series had arrived.  That's how tired I was.

A couple of hours was all I needed, and I feel better now.

Then Dr. Who - The Complete Third Series had better watch out!

T.O.D.

I had children's records on 78 when I was young.  The only ones I remember are HOWDY DOWDY IN THE ENCHANTED(?) FOREST and Amos and Andy perform THE LORD'S PRAYER.

The first 45s I remember buying myself were PLEASE DON'T JUST STAND THERE by Patty Duke and SWEET TALKIN' GUY by The Chiffons.

Most of my music money went to OBCs and Soundtracks which I usually purchased at the record store in the basement of the old Rust Building in Tacoma.  I could spend hours there, just going through the bins looking at the records.  The first album I bought was ANYTHING GOES with Hal Linden.

Then I joined Columbia Record Club and Lord knows how much crap I bought!

I thought perhaps you prepared the wax for Thomas A. Edison's experimental phonograph.

A few other songs related to the soaps..

The 1980s were big for songs that were on the soaps and then making it big on the charts. DOOL and Santa Barbara were known for using pop music for montages. One reason I suspect you will never see old eppies of Days and Santa Barbara on soapnet due to copyright relating to the songs.

Freinds and Lovers - Gloria Loring and Carl Anderson
Think of Laura - Christopher Cross
Tonight I Celebrate my Love - Roberta Flack
All I have - Beth Nielsen Chapman

I loved Gloria Loring on DAYS.  And I loved that song.  I also loved Brenda Benet on DAYS and Iwas very sad when she committed suicide in real life.

Does anyone else remember the soap opera NEVER TOO YOUNG back in the mid-Sixties.  It starred John Lupton, Tony Dow, Dack Rambo, and Patricia Connelly.

I am off work today and tomorrow. I'm trying very hard to clean and put up my holday decorations but this board is addictive.

I am taking the boys out for lunch, shopping and to the Steelers game at Heinz Field. I have on-field passes and tickets for the game and of course, the boys snatched them. I'll be watching the game from my Mom's couch. Go Steelers! It's raining and cold here--so I keep telling myself. The game should be sloppy. I don't know if anyone watches football but our family loves it.

Fingers crossed that the Steelers come to play tonight.....chow.

I LOVE football DaNiece!  Too bad the Steelers suck.  ;)

Loads of songs make me cry, often depending on my mood.

In high school my sister’s boyfriend, the one she should have married, fixed my up with the brother of a friend.  Turned out this guy was my friend down the block in elementary school, until he moved away.  Because of our history we stopped by his house to see his parents.  While there he picked up his guitar and played PUFF THE MAGIC DRAGON.  There I was with big tears slipping down my cheeks.  I was terribly embarrassed but they all had, oh isn’t she cute, expression on their faces, which embarrassed me even more ;D

Puff used to make me cry too

Sorry I was off getting a new avitar.  I'm still working on it but this one has almost everything I like/love--music (as seen on the dress), a dragon (because I love fantasy/sci fi,) the computer is in the background and (of course) a dog!

And apparently a strobe light.

DR JMK I think he is singing Frances Farmer Will Have Her Revenge on Seattle.

Now, now, now...Western State is in Steilacoom, not Seattle.

Personally, I think Frances' rage could have easily encompassed the whole state, revenge-wise.  ;)

Off to our first complete runthrough of Cinderella.  Miss Oregon 2007 makes a wonderful Princess.

The first records I had were little yellow 78s. I can't remember what they were now. Peter Cotton tail? I listened to Babes in Toyland and Cinderella over and over.   My sister is 7 years older than I am so we had a lot of 45s around the house in the 60s.

Song that makes me teary...."The Way You Look Tonight" especially the Fred Astaire version.

I stayed home today (because I can ;)) and I just took my shower.  I now need to get ready for rehearsal.  Tonight will be a run-through with as much of the costumes as we have.  I should have most of the pieces I'm going to have, except that last night, I brought in two pairs of my own shoes and when I was leaving for the evening, I couldn't find them!  I hope that they haven't been stolen, but we'll see if they turn up tonight. :-\

AND my DVR recorded both "Desperate Housewives" and "Brothers & Sisters" from last night!  The last two weeks, it didn't...even though it WAS set up to record them.  I watched last week's episode on-line but didn't get to last night's episode yet.

Have a good evening, all!
