It's December Eve, isn't it!

I have a friend whose name is Holly Eve (she was born on December the 24th) and another friend whose name is Rainy December (she was born in September ;)).

Well, I'm off to dinner, and then The Metropolitan Room to revel in Liz Callaway's voice.  -Does one "revel" in a voice?  In any case...

Laters...

Bask in the beauty of her voice??

I think you should have your ashes mixed in with her sugar bowl, so that each morning as she has her morning cup of java...

I believe she starts her day with vodka.

TOD:

CDs - nothing right now

DVDs - Doctor Who - The Complete Third Series

Movies - Enchanted - we enjoyed it

Books - James McNair's Favorites - an actual cookbook, instead of just something about food.

I heard Sturm and Drang had an acrimonious break-up.

DR RLP -  It wasn't all that earth-shattering.  I actually remember very few.  IIRC, The Enquirer determined:

Jody Foster - Yes.
Prince Charles - No.
John Travolta, Jake Gyllenhaal - The Jury's Out.   So to speak.

Jodie Foster gay!? No!

I should get started on der Brucer's dinner.

Pasta sauced with some sausage and tomato sauce.

And soup.  To be specific, Gingered Carrot Soup.

I haven't tried this before, but it sounds yummilicious.  Leeks, minced fresh ginger, lots of carrots, chicken broth, fresh orange juice, and mint, all cooked and then smoothly pureed in the food processor, and finished off with a little cream.

Got a huge cache of packages today, including the 3 HD DVDs I got on Amazon's sale (thanks MattH!).  Popped in Mutiny on the Bounty and was immediately blown away by how wonderful the Overture sounded.  I heard things I don't think I've ever realized were there before, even on the most excellent FSM release.  Since I've seen Mutiny so many times, I decided to pop in Grand Prix, which I've never seen.  Had a moment of hilarity as I was listening to the Overture.  For some reason I had thought it was a Goldsmith score and as I kept listening I kept thinking "why is Jerry Goldsmith aping Maurice Jarre?", only to find out that of course it's a Jarre score.  This is probably sacrilege, but I find a lot of Jarre's scoring distractingly inappropriate--e.g., the Overture to Grand Prix sounds like outtakes from some WWI film.  And what's up with all the multi-screen and slow-mo effects?  It reminds me in a way of Darling, with Schlesinger try oh-so-hard to be oh-so-cool.  Frankenheimer (like Schlesinger) was better than that, or at least I'd like to think so.

Here I am in the parking garage booth. I'm holding the rubber band chain I started making when I got bored.

Here is the rubber band chain when I finished it and we draped it across the inside of the booth. There were 71 rubber bands.

Here's how that conversation went:

"Hey, would you take a picture of me wearing a yellow Swedish Chef hat?"
"Do you have a yellow Swedish Chef hat?"
"Yes."
"Okay."

And for a video clip, click HERE (it takes a moment to load).  If you watch the introduction (the first 30 seconds), you can see me on the right when our segment is announced.  After that, scroll right until there is about 2 minutes and 30 seconds left (as indicated by the timer on the right side of the scroll bar) and that's where our segment really starts. :D

It takes a moment to load???  I have sat through miniseries that didn't last that long!

Nice clip, DR GEORGE.

DR EDISAURUS thanks for the info about the film.  Hmmmmm that means that Judy's work on VALLEY OF THE DOLLS was processed just not used and sat somewhere until it was destroyed.

Jrand, shouldn't you have worried about this sooner?  Like, say, 1969?
