Checking our list of DVDs, der Brucer and I have a bit of Chaplin in our collection, some Keaton, some early Hitchcock, and The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari.

I can remember seeing a few silent comedies on television when I was growing up.  Sad, that today's kids aren't exposed to any of that, instead getting a regular diet of Spongebob Squarepants and The Fairly Odd Parents.  The older grandlad can regularly be found staring at the television, mouth hanging open as if he's being hypnotized.  The younger grandlad, fortunately, isn't as hooked and prefers to spend his time playing.

Hmmm... I just realized that their mother, Magic Mommy, gets the same look on her face whenever she's watching Cops.

I, too, am amazed that Ron is able to eat so soon. Must be a good sign!

Well, the doctor said I can go to back to work!  I'm happy and sad.  I'm still not healed enough to do anything big.  I'm not allowed to lift anything over 10 pounds but I am healing.

And I can drive.  Good thing since I drove myself to his office.

So, this is the last  weekday you will see me post for quite a long, long, long time.

I mostly feel sorry for the dogs.  They are not going to understand what the heck is going on.  They are used to me being home with them (and handing out treats  ::)  ) all day.

Life is gonna get hard.   ;D

Vibes to all those having dental work of any sort

...and to those who shudder at even the thought of such!

Comfort and healing to you!

Der Brucer cannot remember watching any silent film from beginning to end.  Snippets, yes, but not a full film.

Correction - he thinks he's seen City Lights.

He is now nagging me about getting to the market early.  I think he's hungry.

Mr. Murphy is still not here, but is on his way, which probably means another ten minutes or so.  Lunch is now iffy, since he has to be at some airport at three.

Congrats to Danise!

Remember to take things slooowly. People usually think they can do more than they really can after being inactive for a while. That's my experience, anyway.

I will, thanks.  I'm glad that it will be a short week for me.  I would have hated to face a full 5 days.

Hello hello!  Yes, I've been errant and truant WAY too long.  However, I figured out why.  Both schools I work at have heavy internet filters, so I can't post on any message board.  In that respect it's hard to get into a routine each day.

To catch up, we opened the Menken/Ahrens A Christmas Carol - The Musical on Friday, and it's a great show.  Tight, fun, and everyone seems to love it.  Its the second year in row that this theatre has done this version and it's the 22nd year of doing "A Christmas Carol".  They started with an early stage version of the movie "Scrooge", and things morphed over the years and finally they made a change last year.  Its a good show.

Everything else is going well.  The DP and I are in the kitchen today making holiday treats.  I just got done with a batch of peppermint marshmallows and two batches of peanut brittle (one with cinnamon and cayenne) all while listening to Susan Egan's Christmas CD which is awesome.

Back to the kitchen.

Thanks for the report DR MATTHEW......great choices the theatre made.  We have a theatre that alternates JOSEPH/DREAMCOAT and CINDERELLA for the holidays.

I didn't have anything that was too chewy.  A (thinly sliced) smoked turkey on a soft, freshly baked croissant.

Hello, Hello to DR Mathew and his DP!  So when can I expect a shipment of cookies?  :)  I meant treats.   Peanut brittle sounds great to me!

Or is that "down" for a nap right now?

DR JMK - I got a couple of TV Guides from spring, 1960, and it seems that Friday was the day that Ms. Frances Farmer was broadcast in color.  I think her sequences were always in color, but maybe Friday the movie was in color, too.

I thought Vixmom posted that she had a root canal. On BK's birthday, perhaps?

Does anyone else find it interesting that DR SINGDAW is able to post extensively while at work, but while his DP is attending a conference, he cannot? Vacation, I can understand. Perhaps someone should enlighten me. Then again, perhaps not. :)

IIRC, yes, it was on Saturday. But I didn't have the impression it was a root canal. I thought she just said "dentist."

I stand corrected. She was tortured for several hours at the dentist, which I guess I understood was a root canal.

As has been the case lately, it was a very late lunch, so viewing time this afternoon was a wee bit compromised.

At lunch, I had to roll up the sleeves on my long sleeved shirt because it was so warm. What an amazing day here!
