This will probably have DR dB foaming at the mouth.  It takes about 20 minutes, but it's pretty interesting...

The Story of Stuff

I was in full "foam" 3 minutes in! What a bunch of Socialistic clap trap! It's almost a commercial for Home Schooling.

What a great clip, DR George!   :D  Thank you.

I second that emotion!

My pleasure!  I wasn't even searching this when I saw it under the related videos section of what I was watching. :)

After leaving the music store, I went ahead and drove through my old neighborhood since I was nearby... WOW!

It looked like almost every split-level and rambler had had some sort of work done to it - an addition, bump out, new roofs, etc.  I actually drove by my old house the first time since I didn't recognize it.  Oh, they put a new roof.  WAIT!  The put a whole new second floor on top of the living room!.  -I guess it's no longer a split-level.  Then when I drove around the block and could peer into the backyard, it looks they added the second floor to the front and back of the original structure, as well as bumping out the kitchen a little bit more into the backyard.

I noticed lots of similar remodeling work on a lot of other houses.  And, frankly, it all looked a bit strange to me.  All that very identifiable 1970's architecture with 2000's updates tacked on to the original structures.

I guess you really can't go home again.  ;)

*I did drive my high school too - Bishop O'Connell.  It looked exactly the same.  Well, maybe except for maybe a fresh coat of paint on the carport area. ;)

There's the clip of Dorothy Loudon doing "Vodka" on the Tony Awards show, but, there's, alas, no URL for it. . . :'(

It's innocuous enough...I think it's supposed to be George Steinbrenner drooling.  But I don't follow sports, so...

Good evening all.  If you watch the news at all, I'm deep in Presidential Caucus land. It's all politics all the time. Sort of a total immersion experience. Vixmom, you really should have come out here, it's just incredible this year.  I'm now for Edwards and will be Caucusing for him on Thursday.  I've seen everyone at least once except Dodd, so I may go seen him tomorrow, just to fill out the dance card, so to speak.  Sunday Biden and Edwards are here, Clinton is coming back, but I haven't heard the details, I just saw Richardson and O'Bama is coming to town the same time as Clinton. I don't care to see either of them again.

So if you have any questions, my brain is so full of political issues, who stands where on what etc. etc. etc I can probably answer that without even looking it up.

After my drive down memory lane, literally, I met up with my friend, Brad, for lunch.  We hadn't seen each other in person in about two years, and it was finally great to to exchange hugs after all this time.  He's a university professor at a small private college, and it was fun hearing some of the tales from this past semester.  He teaches psychology, and, from the sound of it, it looks like most of his students could use a couple of session on the couch.  ;)

Then it was off to Tyson's Corner to do some browsing at the Container Store.  I almost bought some things, but then I remembered - DUH! -  that there are two Container Store locations in NYC.

Oregon's answer to Satan (Lon Mabon) wins another round!

Judge Nixes Oregon Domestic Partnership Law Pending Hearing

PORTLAND, Ore. —  A federal judge on Friday placed on hold a state domestic partnership law that was set to take effect Jan. 1, pending a February hearing.
The law would give some spousal rights to same-sex couples.

Opponents asked U.S. District Judge Michael W. Mosman to intercede after the Oregon secretary of state's office ruled in October that they had failed to collect enough valid signatures on a referendum to block the law.

The Oregon measure covers benefits related to inheritance rights, child-rearing and custody, joint state tax filings, joint health, auto and homeowners insurance policies, visitation rights at hospitals and others. It does not affect federal benefits for married couples, including Social Security and joint filing of federal tax returns.

After the Legislature approved the domestic partnership law this year, gay rights opponents launched an effort to collect enough signatures to suspend the law and place it on the November 2008 ballot for a statewide vote.

But state elections officials said this fall that the effort fell 116 valid signatures short of the 55,179 needed to suspend the law.

In court Friday, Austin Nimocks, a lawyer for Alliance Defense Fund, which opposes the measure, said the state's review process was flawed, disenfranchising citizens who had signed petitions.

I finished up today's trekking with dinner with my friend, Andy.  -DR elmore, he says, HI!.  It was sooooo good seeing Andy again.  We chat almost daily online, and it really was nice being able to chat in person.  We headed out to Reston Towne Centre for dinner at Rio Grande Cafe - well, Don Julio's Rio Grande Cafe - where a plethora of Mexican foodstuffs was consumed.  We talked about this and that, and laughed and laughed.

Hopefully, now that his work situation has settled down, he'll be able to make another visit to NYC sooner than later.

*And we had a cute waiter too!  So cute, that Andy left him a 30% tip!  ;)
