The Omnivore's Dilemma
\

This and the new book [which is supposed to be Pollan's answers to the questions posed in the former] are on my Kindle as of yesterday.

Spruce up nice, DR JOSE....one never knows who is watching.

DR JMK....my memory only goes back to yesterday and then picks up in 1958.

I have trouble remembering yesterday.

DR Jeanne - I was working next to one of our Fiction Goddesses and read your post to her.  She waved her magic wand and came up with:

Frances Fyfeld
Gillian Linscott
Val McDermid
Kate Wilhelm

I have not read any of these authors, but FG used a very reliable source.

Thank you, Ginny!  Val McDermid, whose name I was trying to recall the other day, wrote WIRE IN THE BLOOD--or, at least, the novels on which the series was based. Most impressive writing! The others I've not heard of. I will check them out. I even have a new bookstore gift card to use.

I want to be a Fiction Goddess!

Now, if I could just learn how to read...

Well, you're already a HHW Goddess, and some of what you tell us may be fiction. Does that qualify?

Anything new by Pollan is going to have to wait.  Der Brucer just put in the new order to Jessica's Biscuit (including Michael Ruhlman's Elements of Cooking), and I have to behave myself for a little while.

Love the castle! But it's set a little close to the street.

Typical McCastle, then - way too big for the lot.   :-\

Typical McCastle, then -

And, also typical for a McCastle:  the mortgage payments are so high, I can't afford to furnish the place!

Can there really be too much of a good thing?

In a word:  No.     ;)

Back after New Year's in Fresno & several hundred dollars spent on car repair (unexpected but needed...my radiator was cracked).
Here's a phone-cam self portrait from New Year's Eve.

How about a new avatar (not that it's really necessary ;)):

Der Brucer wants to get on-line.

And I need to get to the store, for whatnots and whatevers.

Just heard that my nephew's house has been flooded.  He lives near the Tweed River on the New South Wales/Queensland border. At least he can stay up stairs and he does have a boat. Walking the dogs may be a problem today!

The only cast recordings/soundtracks I listen to on LP are the ones I don't have on CD. The most recent was GOLDEN RAINBOW. (I know it's out on Lawrence's private CD label, but I won't pay the extortion prices he wants for it.)

More than 300mm of rain in under three hours over night.

I'd vote for Al Gore and not blame DR Jose.

It was COLD outside doing my errands, so I was glad to get back home and relatively warm. It's the first time this season I've felt really uncomortable even inside and had to turn up the heat a bit.

Next, I put in the second disc from the season 2 set of BONES and watched the first episode which I fixed and ate lunch. This was the episode with the body found in a tub of lye. I will probably work my way through the rest of the disc 2 episodes over the weekend. I do love this series.
