As for the Friday Media Check...

Radio: WCVE (Richmond), WQXR (NYC)

iPod:whatever came on in Shuffle Mode

DVR: the backlog of shows from Christmas week, "Chelsea Lately", "The Janice Dickinson Modeling Agency", and some other inconsequential programs.  ;)

This is the Act One Curtain number for my new musical.....

What is the basis for The Bassist in the Basement?    ;)

The Bassist in the Basement

This is the Act One Curtain number for my new musical.....

Actually, the guitarist was in the basement.  The bassist would occasionally come over to rehearse, at which point I guardedly let them upstairs into the living room.   ;D

Page Five Dyan Cannon hands dance.

Someone needs to show her how to do a proper jazz hands.

Or at least a Kimmel hands.

Then it would have to be

The Guitarist in the Garage, and that wouldn't work.

May I just say, I believe I have given us an exciting new catch-phrase--Dyan Cannon hands.  Does anyone remember what the third part of this newly formed trifecta was?  I remember "Is it because I'm a lesbian?" (which, in fact, could be the reason for Dyan's hands), but I can't remember what the first one was.  Who's keeping score around here?  :)

Congrats to DR Sandra - That ladder and bucket signified your HHW ascension, of course.  With an emphasis on the ladder.

Who's keeping score around here?

The last time I kept a score, Tams-Witmark charged me a $50.00 fine.

I believe I may have mis-attributed the observation about Ms. Cannon's digital extremties (did anyone ever see the 20,000 Pyramid where Dick Cavett had the word "Foot" and his clue was "the pedal extremity," which was met with a baffled stare by his partner?).  I think the person who told me that was actually Friesen's sometime piano player Randy Porter.

Friesen's sometime piano player Randy Porter.

Is he related to the Randy Vicar?

Only when the Vicar takes the train.  (Porter?  Get it?).   ::)

Not to be confused with the "A" train.

Blame DR JMK.  But he did warn us about the kitsch factor!

DR MBarnum, please let me know how you like the Singers Unlimited Christmas album [for which DR JMK also is to blame.  ;) ]

I am looking for some new authors of mysteries. As most of you know, I adore both Minette Walters and Laurie King--both authors whose stories have a somewhat psychological bent. Any suggestions? Thanks!

DR Jeanne - I was working next to one of our Fiction Goddesses and read your post to her.  She waved her magic wand and came up with:

Frances Fyfeld
Gillian Linscott
Val McDermid
Kate Wilhelm

I have not read any of these authors, but FG used a very reliable source.
