SUGAR RUSH
« on: January 19, 2008, 12:53:42 AM »

Well, you've read the notes, the notes were sugary and were rushed, and now it is time for you to post until the cows come home - they're rushing to have some sugar.

According to THIS article on Playbill.com about theatre in London in 2008:

Director John Doyle — recently a Broadway name for his innovative revivals of Sweeney Todd and Company — will return to the work of Stephen Sondheim. His spin on the backwards-running tale of disillusionment, Merrily We Roll Along[/b], began previews Jan. 16 at the Watermill.

This article in today's NY Times about the Writer's Guild strike basically echoes what bk was saying a few days ago...

TOD

Welles
A Touch of Evil
Chimes At Midnight

Leigh
Gone With the wind
Streetcar Named Desire
Ship of Fools

Olivier
Rebecca
Wuthering Heights
Long Day's Journey Into Night
Sleuth
A Little Romance

Hard to find a decent film from the latter part of his career when he was an actor for hire. He would do any movie for a paycheck.

Austin Pendleton

Charles Shaunghnesy
The Nanny
Days of Our Lives

DR RLP - I wanted the music from LEAVE HER TO HEAVEN, so I went to Amazon.com and bought a new CD that was offered by Amazon.com.  It wasn't a seller or Ebay, so I didn't really know it's origin except that it was an import and IN STOCK, so I bought it.

Scott Lowell suffered through such terrible writing in QAF, it is nice to hear that he is working in other - different - stuff.

TOD; fave Welles films are AMBERSONS, TOUCH OF EVIL, and CHIMES AT MIDNIGHT: never cared for KANE, but I esp like Welle's cameo as Cardinal Wolsey in MAN FOR ALL SEASONS...Olivier-my favorite by far is RICHARD III, and I also love his performance in SPARTACUS....Don't have a favorite Leigh performance, tho I did see her TOVARICH charleston on Ed Sullivan and she supported Gielgud in the play and RCA recording of IVANOV-It's the record I have and like.a lot

Good morning everyone. It would appear that I have caught my roommate's cold. I am set up in bed with the tv, tissues, my phone, the computer and this week's Entertainment Weekly. I should be all set.

And I see that Lil Abner will be running the week that I am in Los Angeles! Perhaps a fun event in which to have an HHW get together! What say you BK!
