BK didn't like that it moved.  I did not do mine where everyone else did theirs, and the site I did mine at did not have a "static" option, so I deleted it.

There are other options.

What a full afternoon of viewing, and I still got upstairs fifteen minutes earlier than usual.

I began with two episodes from NUMB3RS. One of them was dealing with a bomber who specialized in letter bombs. Good episode but no mystery.

The other episode dealt with the crash of an airplane, the murder of a forest ranger, and their connection to a surprising conspiracy. Good show.

The kids and I are watching my screener of The Chipmunk Adventure.  Well, at this moment, just they are watching.  :)

Just found out I'll be doing the latest volume of the Classic Musicals of the Dream Factory.  Kind of a mixed bag in this release, but some fun new to DVD stuff.

Next, I watched BLACK WIDOW. You can certainly tell this was filmed in the early Cinemascope years as the edges of the screen have that "bowed" effect that accounted for the early curved screens of the process. The action was certainly staged with people spread all throughout the frame, and, naturally, at one point, Peggy Ann Garner is stretched out horizontally on a chaise to fill up the frame. (This was done a lot in HOW TO MARRY A MILLIONAIRE, too.)

The movie is a fair little mystery. Ginger Rogers may have been bitchy in real life, but she didn't play bitchy very well. She's very "actressy" in this part. I did love Bea Benadaret getting insulted by Ginger a couple of times; her takes are priceless. It's really Van Heflin's movie, and he's the best thing in it.

Good Afternoon!

So... Who wants to meet me for a cocktail or two around 6:00 in midtown this afternoon?

;)

*Today's Lesson:  Just because you get offered five days in a row of auditions, does not mean you have to take all five days in a row of auditions.  A friend of mine came in during the last group, and I just started giggling for no apparent reason.  Can you say, "punchy"?  ;D

I hope you start to feel better soon.

I was not a fan of THE CHIPMUNK ADVENTURE. When you see something like that, you realize that even though Disney was at a fairly low ebb at that point in time, they were still eons ahead of everyone else trying to do animated features.

However... By taking these past five days of auditions in a row - and two more next week - I should have my rent covered for May... And I can definitely treat myself to a mini-vacation in mid-April too.  :)

I watched a couple of the special features on the BLACK WIDOW DVD.

"Ginger Rogers at Fox" was an OK summary of her work there. Might have been a little less dry and more campy if Dr. Drew Casper had contributed to the documentary. They showed scenes from ROXIE HART and MONKEY BUSINESS (as well as BLACK WIDOW) but only meantioned DREAMBOAT. I wonder why they didn't show any clips from that?

I also watched the documentary on Gene Tierney though it's a very surface examination of some of her films at the studio, of course focusing on her two most famous ones: LAURA and LEAVE HER TO HEAVEN. Not a word about THE GHOST AND MRS. MUIR which is my second favorite film of hers next to LAURA.

Been listening to a flute/guitar duo called Similia.  Just chose it out of the blue because I wanted to hear "Carmen Fantasy" on Flute, so I chose this album.  It's very good!!!

I had my fill of the "Carmen Fantasy" when I was accompanying in college.  I played the versions for Violin and Flute... And I remember at least three different versions for each instrument.

Right now, the DVD recorder is burning a DVD-R of THE SATAN BUG. I'll go tend to it around 5:30.

I forgot to mention that the DVD box set of THE CLOSER - Season 3 will street on July 1.

Argh! This is a month later than last year's set!

On to choral music.  Some opera choruses, some oratorio choruses, some fun pieces.

Well, I've finished with my afternoon surf.

The VARIETY critic liked GYPSY a lot.

Justin Hartley (played Green Arrow on SMALLVILLE) has been cast in the lead of a pilot about emergency room doctors and attendants for the CW.

CELEBRITY APPRENTICE had its biggest ratings in 3 years for its finale last night. NBC has already slated another CElebrity Apprentice edition for next season.

I forgot to mention that I did skim through today's AS THE WORLD TURNS. No Luke/Noah (known as Nuke on soap boards).

They were in the previews for next week.

Now, I've got to go mop the kitchen floor and then get back to more NUMBERS episodes and then APOLLO 13 on HD-DVD followed by tonight's CANTERBURY LAW.

JMK-We have your snow.  I hope it doesn't last much longer than it did up your way.

Off to take Sherlock for his rabies vaccination.  I'm sure he would be happier if it were for a hike, I know I would be cuz I skipped it today.
