I did not realize that Mr. David Sedaris has a new collection of essays out:

Whether a critic gives the fiim 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5 stars will not matter because the people who see it and love it will be fans of the series and I don't think they'll be disappointed in the least. I loved the film, and on my way out, I heard a young lady saying to her friends "I cried during a lot of it." Well, so did I: it's romantic, very funny, dark, unhappy, wise. and maybe a bit silly but it works very well as a tie-up to the series. The fifth character in the series always was Manhattan, and it can be equally romantic, funny, dark, bleak, and still the only place I ever really want to live.

I'll reveal no plot points but the audience I was with, mostly women and gay men, seemed to be having a wonderful time and to be totally committed to it: at one point a woman in the audience uttered a loud, "No shit!" and at another point burst into happy applause at the resolution of a storyline. I'll give it a couple of days and go back to see it again. Now I want to watch the entire sereis on DVD.

After a wonderful lunch with our DR Jose, I'm off to make an unhappy phone call.

I'm afraid that I may have to turn in my toaster oven; but I have no desire to see the movie version of SEX AND THE CITY, even to see Chris Noth.

Interesting article in the new issue of Entertainment Weekly about spoilers and how they're changing Hollywood - and the battle between the fans who try to find out every last tidbit ahead, and those who prefer to remain ignorant until the movie or show airs.

I didn't notice any. But it was reported in my local paper that the writers had said there would be a bit of something extra shown on the replayed 8pm show. I don't see why they would have said that if it was not true.

Perhaps just to drive you crazy!

I may be entirely wrong, but my impression was that there remain but 34 episodes of LOST, spread over just two further seasons.

Well, I may also be entirely wrong.  I thought that before last year's season finale they had inked a pact for five more seasons of 16 episodes each.  My mind plays tricks on me, though.

Maybe it WAS three more seasons and now there are two to go.

Naturally there was a really lame episode about Muslim prejudice. Not that it isn't a worthwhile topic for an episode (or ten), but it was handled in such a Pollyanna way. It just set my teeth on edge.

Matt, I am curious.  When you review a show like 7TH HEAVEN that you so thoroughly dislike; do you slam the show because it isn't your cup of tea, or are you reviewing it more for the quality of the DVD and the extras that are lncluded?

Well, I just tried a new thing.  I ordered a pizza from Domino's online.  Not that their pizza is all that great, but it's interesting...you see a status bar and a timeline on your computer screen, showing order, prep, baking, boxing, and delivery status.  I don't need to do it again, but it was fun to do once.

I found out that on Thursday September 18, 2008, The Manhattan Transfer will be performing with Al Jarreau at this year's Puyallup Fair!  If you scroll down to Sunday September 21, 2008, you'll see that another act performing at the fair will be the Doodlebops Live!

;)

George, I posted the news about Manhattan Transfer and Al Jarreau for you about two months ago.  You were online and posting when I wrote it, so I guess you just don't read my posts.

Actually, I'm about to sit down and watch the entire 3rd Rock episode from which DR Edisaurus posted that clip a few days ago.  With my 3-D glasses on!  :)

Word to the wise:  Don't try driving with one hand and taking photographs with the other, especially if you are not adept at doing either.
