If I'm not drawn into a movie's world in the first thirty minutes I start to ponder the "Why?". Often it is because I can not "believe" the character (or their reactions etc) even though I can accept the world in which they live - even if it is Middle Earth etc.

I've just updated my virus protection so I should not catch DR Jane's head cold.  I hope that your cold disappears very quickly DR Jane.

I wonder how that once upon a time DR from Pudgy Sound is getting along healthwise.

Good idea, I don't want anyone to catch this.

I'm also curious.

DP Colin and I watched Uk TV movie "Perfect Day" last night.  I could not believe in the characters for the most part.  We won't be watching others in the series.

DerBrucer, I expected you to post this sooner & decided I should say something.  I'm slow at posting as I'm typing with one hand while holding a kleenix over my face with the other.

My favorite Australian of all-time is back pitching with the Seattle Mariners....Ryan Rowland Smith.

Didn't we used to have some people from Oz on this site?

Are any of you interested in the new complete 10 DVD release of The Duchess of Duke Street, the Masterpiece Theater series from the 70s?

Well, I'm tipsy after two margaritas and Mexican food with our DR Jose. It was a nice surprise to encounter DR singdaw at the one-acts today. I liked three of them very much. The musical one-act was surprisingly short for a piece with a book by Terrence McNally but the music by Mr Skip Kennon, which to me possessed an underscore of elegiac sadness for the passage of time, was a model of melody, charming accompaniments, smart wit, and chic. The four performers in it were wonderful and just right. I would have liked a little more book, though.

I also liked two very funny one-acts, one of which about a psychiatrist and her client would have been a lovely revue sketch, and the other about people, cell phones and a suicide attempt that may have been too long but never stopped being surprising and outrageously funny. Both had wonderful casts.

I had major problems with the fourth, which I found mediocre with no surprises. I'd put it in that category of masturbatory actor pieces that have less to do with writing and more to do with attempts to give actors a broad range of emotions. I was bored and then surprised after all the talk of the bride's wealthy family to find her in a wedding dress so pitiful that it looked as though the bride had been mugged before arriving to the ceremony. After all the needless bits of nothing, she should have appeared so gorgeous that the idea of calling off a wedding was completely forgotten.

It bothers me in movies about the TITANIC if the screenwriters have Margaret "Molly" Tobin Brown arriving on the ship before Cherbourg. . .or if the other characters address her as "Molly."

One of the things I loved about TITANIC is how accurate it was.  I started studying the history of the Titanic after I saw the movie the first time.  The number of accurate details was incredible.  Including that Margaret Brown got on the boat at Cherbourg.  I do think they called her  Molly, but they also included a clearly fictional love story, so I figure a little poetic license is ok

I think James Cameron was guilty of far worse discrepancies in his Titanic movie than those.

But he did get a lot right.

I could go for a margarita about now.  Don't they filled with vitamin C?

We took Sherlock to the dog park today & then had lunch out.  I only had two cups of tea while I enjoyed the sunshine, Keith ate lunch.  When I told the waitress I have a cold she offered, more than once, to add brandy to my tea.  As tempting as it sounded, I was sure I would fall fast asleep.

I think I may be catching a cold. Luckily I have a stash of Advil Cold and Sinus. I took one and that seems to be doing the trick for now.

I have been eating all weekend.  I really shouldn't do that, but it's been fun.  Mostly fresh veges from the market.

But he did get a lot right.

The only two kudos I will give Mr. Cameron is

1)  His attention to detail on the interiors of the ship, and
2)  The shocking but very realistic final scenes showing the
death of nearly 1600 peopl must have been like.
Most of the Titanic films have avoided detailing that reality.

Email reply from Dan.  The explosion was the other side of the city. He and Gord are fine.

Thank to anyone who may have been concerned.

(as no doubt the Pudgy Sound guy would have been had he been on line)

I will give Mr. Cameron a few more kudos:

1. Casting Gloria Stuart.
2.  Filming the wreck on location.
3.  The dissolve from Kate Winslet's eye into Gloria Stuart's.
4.  The treatment of the third class.

I will NOT give Mr. Cameron kudos for twenty minutes of:
"Jack?"
"Rose?"
"Jack?!"
"Rose?!"
"JACK?!"
"ROSE?!"
