I spent most of the afternoon (after we returned from Target) watching THE LOVE GURU. Humorless, desperate, obvious. I think that will suffice about its quality.

Then, I began with the bonus features. There are a fair number of them, and I only got one done compeltely: the director of the movie talking about its making in a 9-minute feature. Naturally they all proclaim Mike Myers a comic genius. His genius must have been out to lunch the day he wrote the screenplay. (Admittedly, he's been working on this character in comedy clubs for years, but I just found all of its "guru" references to be so lame.

I then skimmed quickly through today's AS THE WORLD TURNS. No Luke and nothing in the previews either.

I concluded my afternoon watching the next segment in last night's PROJECT RUNWAY. I'm not sure any of these are looking good at this moment. And, of course, I got furious when they took four hours away from them to go to that reception. NOT FAIR!

Thinking about Facebook.  IMHO it would be nice to send a note when requesting a new friend you don’t know, or one you haven’t communicated in a long while.  Otherwise I don’t think a note is necessary.  I discovered you can send a message without requesting to be their friend.  I like that option.

I did get HOW THE WEST WAS WON on Blu-ray this afternoon, so that's what I'll be watching at some point tonight. I must finish the bonus features on THE LOVE GURU first.

DR Ginny, your bird story for the day is much better than ours.  Ours is rather gross.

A bird flew into the open driver’s side of the window & smashed into the back window, splattering blood everywhere.  We aren’t sure if the bird hit Sherlock before hitting the window.  He was very upset, not that we weren’t.  We quickly stopped to get the bird out of there before he got to it.  I then sat in the back seat, away from the blood, & gave Sherlock the front seat for short distance left to drive home.  Good thing it was short cuz Sherlock ended up sitting backwards in the seat, obviously confused & uncomfortable.  Once we returned home I had to scrub the back seat & window, and then we cleaned Sherlock.

I thought you were Tippi Hedren. since I've never seen you and her in a room at the same time.

I'll set a happier tone for birds for the day.  I've had a hummingbird spending its afternoons on my patio just sitting there and watching over me.  It's not nesting; it will occasionally visit the blossoms on the Monk's Pepper Tree, but for the most part it just plumps its feathers and watches me through the window.

Surprisingly, Youtube is used a lot by college students...

Especially those in media studies and sociology...

I just opened the August issue of Choice: Current Reviews for Academic Libraries, and found a bibliographic essay titled, "YouTube Culture and the Academic Library: A Guide to Online Open Access Educational Videos."

Tonight on Big Brother we should see who wins the final hoh.

And i guess for those who don't follow the live feeds, we will also see who has already won parts 1 and 2.

I really really hope things go how i want them to go and jerry gets the boot. I want dan to win, and jerry to go home tonight.

DR JMK - How many episodes in the Cybill set?  Does the packaging indicate what seasons they're from?  Do you think they're waiting to see if this sells before just issuing the full seasons?

If you have a region code-free DVD player, you could get the entire series (in order) from England.  But don't get the whole series in one box.  It's cheaper to get the seasons separately.

I'm just sayin'.

I like Ken, too.  He was most interested in this apparently big budget, fully orchestrated demo of "Darling of the Day" I came across at BK's former favorite haunt A-1 Record Finders on Melrose.  WEHT Brian at A-1, BK?

BK himself emailed me to tell me of this here site.  We had been emailing off and on since "meeting" on the late and not at all lamented RATM (now RATN, with the "N" being the first initial of its only poster's surname, LOL).

I know the answer to this question, even if Bruce has answered it.  Since I'm just catching up and have stopped here, let me tell you that Brian Burney of A-1 Records has "retired", for all practical purposes.

He sold the buildings in which all A-1's records were warehoused.  He rented storage in a hangar at Burbank airport.  I communicated with him about a year ago when I was looking for some old MGM musical soundtracks.   He was posting from poolside apparently and had some sort of tall cold one nearby.  He was able to help me with a title or two, but he wasn't inclined to go rifling through the boxes in the hangar.  Instead, he was more interested in selling off the entire lot.

If you ever received an e-mail from him, he still has the same e-mail address (or did a year ago).

Our agency just had its annual Town Hall Meeting.  We met at Cal State University-East Bay in Hayward CA.  It was a long, long, very verbal (borderline verbal diarrhea) meeting.  What worked quite well last year was overdone to the nth degree this year as they had the same people trying to top themselves and all of them lacked both inventiveness and inspiration toward doing so.

I can honestly say I don't think I've ever been more bored in my life.

Sigh.

My bird story of the day:

I went to the sewage ponds on this glorious morning and was pleased to see that fall migration is underway.

Of course, we don't actually have autumn here. We have two seasons: summer and not-summer.
