Good morning, all! I'm about ready to hop into a taxi and head to Toyland for the morning. I shouldn't be down there longer than a couple of hours, but I've got to dig out some orchestra parts for the copyists and take care of a few other matters.

After that, back here to HUCK FINN, and whatever fresh hell awaits me.

I'm up.  Dixie Bell is up.
Dixie Bell's eye is very close to normal!  If one hadn't seen it last night, one would never have known that it was that swollen.
Thank you, DRs for all the wonderful vibes sent her way.

Oh, I just want to warn everyone that the cause of my computer crash (I think) was some automatic updates that you get from time to time.  The computer was fine before they loaded.  You ever get those?  The shield by the "shut down" icon stating it will do the updates and then shut the computer down for you?

Now it's caught in a loop that says it can't find the Windows file it needs to boot.  I'd bet it's old MicroSoft trying to get me to "upgrade" to Vista.

It is very quiet at the airport. There were 4 police cars at the hotel when I left this morning. I asked the valet guy what was going on and he said "someone must have called them" Brilliant guy

There was no traffic this morning so I was really early getting here. I decided to drive on up to Mt Vernon. It was a beautiful drive.

To DR Matt Hough

What is the word out there about the restoration of The Godfather and The Godfather Part II which is showing at the Film Forum in NYC starting next week.

It will be out on Blu Ray in a couple of weeks

I am supposed to get those GODFATHER restored versions on regular DVD to review, but they have not arrived. I suspect they'll come in this week when I'm knee-deep in TV box sets (CRIMINAL MINDS, WILL & GRACE 8).

I have only heard that they are great improvements over the overly dark previous versions of the films.

Good morning!

We're back to summer in full force. 92 today for a high! But by mid-week, we'll be having lows in the 50s, so I guess I can stand a couple more days of this. Obviously, the A/C is on and will stay on until the temps begin to get more reasonable.

After I read the newspaper this morning, I finished the rest of the special features on the GREY'S ANATOMY Blu-ray set and got done with that.

On tap this afternoon, LE PLAISIR, the last of the Max Ophuls films from Criterion this month.

Thanks for providing the names of the guest actor Emmy winners from last night's Craft Emmys.

Another shout out to local Charlotte makeup artist John Bayless who won one of the Makeup Awards for JOHN ADAMS.

His wife June has directed me in several musicals.

I jumped to look at the complete list of award winners at the Creative Emmys last night:

Kathy Griffin won for the second year in a row for MY LIFE ON THE D-LIST.

MAD MEN won 4 Emmys for its creative team members.

JOHN ADAMS won 8 Awards last night. (Expect to see it win big at the main Emmy ceremony next Sunday).

30 ROCK won 3 awards last night.

Yeah Mr. Adams! I thought that was a wonderful mini-series. I don't buy many dvds but I would consider buying that one
