After ninety minutes of blessed nothingness, the rain has started up again.  Praying that they fixed whatever needed fixing.

Interesting - I think there's been so much horror on the news in the last few years - particularly recently - that people have become immune or desensitized. In ye olde days, when the kind of footage of the CA storm that's being shown on the (national) news and CNN overseas was aired, I would have gotten at least four calls by now from various parts of the world, asking if all was well. This time - not a single call of concern.

For what it's worth, I found myself feeling very concerned for all of you southern Californians while watching the news tonight.  NBC News was showing footage of people drowning in their cars, homes destroyed in mudslides, and a pretty harrowing rescue of a young man caught in a river (I think it was a river.)

Be careful, you guys.

Latest Pix:

A mudslide caused by heavy rains killed one person in La Conchita, California, Monday.

A 25-foot boulder blocks Topanga Canyon Road in Malibu, California, Monday.

An evacuated house in Santa Clarita, California, collapses into the Santa Clara River Monday after four days of heavy rain.

A house in the Hollywood Hills area of Los Angeles lies crumpled Sunday after the water-sodden hillside behind it gave way. A man and his two children, one of whom was buried up to his neck in mud, were plucked from the debris.

Panni: maybe these pix will get you some phone calls!

Thank you, DR George, for the correction on the pic. It looks that way on my computer, too, but must not have rezied it correctly when I downsized it for posting. I'll try your version in a minute.

And thanks for others who commented on the new look. It's still growing in, and I'm not sure how long I'll keep it anyway. But, for now, that's how I look.

I will be taping HOW'D THEY DO THAT.

At 7pm I must tune to channel 15 to watch a special preview of a pilot for a proposed television show. At 8:30 pm I will be called on the telephone to answer multiple questions about the show to find out what I thought of it.

I did this once before, several months ago. It was fun to give my opinion of the show and it's cast...even though the show sort of sucked...but unlike BK's machine, it sucked in a bad way.

When they called to ask me to watch the show they kept asking me about programs like LAW AND ORDER and DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES....so I imagine this program that I will be watching will be along the lines of one of those two.

Even money that the questions they ask you will be about the commercials interspersed within this supposed "pilot."

For those of you who watched MEDIUM tonight, while I still found it intriguing and entertaining, I didn't think this episode quite matched the pilot. I guess second episodes rarely match the pilot in quality once a show goes to series, but something seemed just a bit missing tonight.

What did others think who had seen both episodes?

Li'l Abner casting: Carol Channing. In any role.

The big exciting thing that happened today is that I got a new bus pass. How exciting is that?

And '24,' of course, had two more matchless episodes. For suspense and surprise, nothing quite matches this show. One really never knows whether the regulars will live or die from episode to episode. A character I thought would be around most of the season, perhaps as a hostage or a lifeline for one of the other characters, was killed tonight.

I am quite excited at the prospect of you having a new bus pass.  It's not quite as exciting as the large amount of sucking that was going on in my bedroom, but it's close.

Good Evening!

...Maybe it's just me, but could we take a break from posting pics of the various natural disasters that are occuring around the world at this point and time?  I don't mind links to news items, but I see enough of those pics - and footage -  on-line elsewhere as well as on TV.

I dunno.  Again, maybe it's just me and my current mindset.

Good Evening!

Yes, I'm in a weird mood right now.  There were two things that "happened" this evening that just put me in a bad mood...  I hate growing up!

;)

All in all, I'm fine.  Days off are sometimes weird for me.  I can't wait for them to come - especially since I usually only get one a week - but, sometimes, like today, I find myself with nothing to do, so...  Too much time spent not doing anything.  Ah, well...

BUT!  I did get a pretty great lead on an apartment in NYC, so...  <fingers and toes crossed>

Thoroughly enjoyed the Pilot.
Was looking forward to this evening's show.
Am very disappointed.

I think what was missing tonight was that Allison's actions did not effect any outcomes.

Reflections from Yesterday for Tomovoz:

Quote
Can't imagine Jam and Cream being served on a US scone.

Long Beach had a delighful spot called "Elsies Tea Room" (no giggling Jose!)

Much chintz and porcelin dolls et al.

The full tea included scones with jam, and clotted cream, and lemon curd!

Tea sandwiches including cucumber and watercress....

And never-emptying pots of  brewed tea.

It definitely was NOT Salada Tea Time!

Ah, MusicGuy has played concerts at Wanamaker's.  I think you have to go through Ladies Shoes to get to the console.

Jane, I am the one without the glasses, without the beard, and without the hair.  I borrowed Jason's pic of Natalie Wood because (a) I love Natalie Wood and (b) the picture of me I keep trying to post I am told is too big and I don't know how to resize it.

Marzipan Pigs are very big around Easter.  They're very easy to find in Australia.. so maybe Tomovoz will send marzipan pigs to those desiring them.  They're considered lucky or something.  I love things made out of Marzipan-- it all looks so pretty.  Unfortunately, marzipan tastes kind of like hardened Cream of Wheat.

Let's all sing the Cream of Wheat song:

"Cream of Wheat is so good to eat,
And we eat it everyday.
We sing this song as we go along,
And we always shout "Hooray'
It's good for growing children and for grown ups too to eat.
Something, something, something,
You can't beat Cream of Wheat"
