I am able to access HHW today through AOL, which I was unable to do last night.  Last night was teribly frustrating for me.  I had so many witty, yet profound, comments that I knew would brighten your otherwise dull lives.  Sadly, today I am back to my usual rather drab posts.  But, boy, you should have read them last night!

Lovely description of NY in the snow, DR Elmore.

Thanks for your kind words, DRs Panni and JRand54.  I wish both of you were here to visit and enjoy my happy day with me.

Just heard from a friend that Ray Harryhausen has his dog and pony at Dark Delicacies today at 2pm in Burbank.  DD is a horror book shop.

Elmore, beautiful descriptions-I can picture your street and wish I was there with you.

DRJane, we'd go to Central Park and make snow angels!  Then we'd go to Artie's for some hot chocolate and potato pancakes with applesauce, except the applesauce at the 2nd Avenue Deli is better!  Or cheesecake and hot chocolate.

Arnold, Mr. Harryhausen's "man" probably booked him everywhere, to maximize the trip.

It is 12:46 and I am pondering food.

I have taken a lovely shower, during which I got several lovely ideas, and now, for a change of pace, I am pondering food.

Very shocking news about Johnny Carson.  I am seldom surprised or shocked when I hear that an older "star" has passed away.  But with Johnny (it just seems right to call him that), he walked off of our televison screens almost 13 years ago, and since he was so sledom seen after that, he became almost ageless.  Unlike so many comedians, he was always able to poke fun without seeming to be mean-spirited.

To Johnny, here's one for the road.

Now I'm on through AOL.  Of course, first I had to force quite AOL, since it was frozen.  Apparently it had been frozen since eleven-thirty, since I had two e-mails waiting for me from that time that JUST showed up.

What I love about people like Johnny Carson and Cary Grant was that they made graceful exits at the top of their game and then never looked back.  None of this hanging around long after their star had faded going "Hey, remember who I used to be?"  And in this way, their mystique always lasted undiminiished.  We remember them at their pinnacle. Class acts.

most of America grew up with Johnny. He was like an old pal...and a sweet one at that. He leaves shoes that cannot be filled. I wish him the fondest of adieux.

LOL.  At first SWW, due to my aging eyesight, I thought you had forgotten to add any link.  How do you manage to do that?

By the way (BTW in internet lingo), Stan Boreson is still drawing crowds wherever he appears.

Did that sound kinky?

I can only assume that my AOL e-mail account is not frozen.  Although I had no personal e-mails waiting, I had about a dozen exciting new cruise specials waiting for my perusal.

(Don't go there, SWW[/b]!)

The view from your door is VERY white - can't see a thing.  You must REALLY be snowed in.

I'm sure I have nothing to do with your aging eyesight.   ::)

I usually highlight the section of what I've typed, and click on the hyperlink icon.  Then I put an = after the first bracketed "url" and insert the link.

Proof that it's a slow news day:

Fox News has told it's viewers that Mr. Carson death was related to emphysema.  They have followed this report with another report about emphysema.

We're enjoying an afternoon of sunshine, which is quite pretty on the snow.

OH!  Before I forget again - and before I go to bed...

A Topic:

If you could have been born in a different country, in a different culture, speaking a different language, which one and why?

I'd want to be from Germany.  My dad's mother is of German descent and my mom was born and raised in Germany.  Growing up, my sister and I never learned the language and we only lived there when my dad was in the army.  We moved when I was six and I haven't been back since.  One of my mom's brothers and her sister (and their spouses) have visited, but I haven't gone there.  Maybe someday I'll learn the language and go, but it won't be any time soon. :-\
