Ginny it was an ordeal when my boys had their wisdom teeth pulled, Bryan was 15 and Craig 19.   Craig also got sick from the Vicoden.   Thank goodness I insisted Craig not have them pulled while at school and to do it here.  Before we went to bed I also put his portable phone next to him so he could call us on our line.  Unfortunately he did need to.

When Bryan had his pulled we lived in a two story house.  I had Craig doing most of the fetching up and down the stairs for Bryan.  Craig was really sweet about it but at the end of the first day complained he was very tired-LOL.  It was so cute.

Today is my mother-in-law's birthday.  When the Vixter was about 4 or 5 she asked if that meant that Granny was Cupid, and was she (Granny) going to have to go around without her clothes shooting arows at people? The Vixter was quite concerned at the time as she didn't think it was appropriate for Granny to act so!!
:D(We set her fears at rest!!)

Jed and Ann are you competing for the same job?

Bruce when we had a pool in Michigan we used something much better than chlorine and I didn’t have to rush straight in the shower to wash it off.

Hisaka thank you for the beautiful card and Vixmom for the cute greetings.

Ben thanks for the Doris Day link.

Jose glad your party was fun and your cake entertaining

Jennifer I’m pleased to hear you are having a wonderful day.

SWW-WOW!  Valentines Day should be a celebration.

Here's a little Valentine's Day trivia for y'all:  February 14 is the day Oregon was admitted to the Union.

I suppose I will read that in this evening's paper-tomorrow after we get down the road to pick it up.

And was that when Craig ruled out nursing as a career option?

yes, DRBEN - thanks for the Doris Day link!  What a pleasure to hear!  8)

DR Ginny-- Jacques Torres was also the pastry chef at the New York restaurant Le Cirque for many years. He recently converted a Brooklyn warehouse into a kind of Willy Wonka chocolate factory complete with tours and tastings. His hot chocolate mix is most luscious-I have purchased it at Balducci's in New York and I think it can be found online.

I still have the Valentines Day card my boyfriend gave me in 4th grade.

I can’t recall any special celebrations.  Just being together is special as I remember far too many times we were apart.  On those occasions Keith would send me roses.  When he was home, at my suggestion, he stopped buying the over priced roses.  Now we are terrible, it is just another day.  This year we didn’t even give each other a card.

DR Iris - Thank you for the lead to Balducci's.  They appear to be in the Lincoln Center neighborhood, where I'm planning to spend the Sunday after seeing Penny's show on March 19.  I was wondering where I might find Jacques Torre's chocolate products other than at his stores.  How convenient!

By the way, will you be joining the group at "Jewish Thighs..." on March 19?

Rodzinsi-LOL.

Ginny- :D

Sandra you are easy to please.  You also remind me, possibly the year before Bryan was born, Keith hadn’t even given me some chocolate and I made a fuss about it.  Along came Easter and he went to See’s and purchased a BIG chocolate egg for me.  Since we didn’t celebrate Easter (until the boys came along) he knew I wouldn’t have anything for him.  He made a huge fuss about that, crying and all.  He had me in stitches I was laughing so hard.

Iris I want to go to the Willy Wonka type chocolate factory.

This is what Craig has to say about Valentines Day in Romania.

“It is celebrated too here on a limited basis, but definitely catching on. A similar Romanian holiday, Dragobete, is on the 24th of February. So as they say here, Iubirea peste iubirea--which means something like love over/after love.”

Since we have a few new members here I thought I should mention Craig has been living in Romania for almost two years now, teaching English to high school students, while in the Peace Corps.  Hisaka and Ozderek are you familiar with our Peace Corps?

In an all too common real estate dispute Balducci's left the Village a couple of years ago. They have been replaced by Citarella, a fish store and more. Here's a link

http://www.citarella.com/about_us.asp

The Balducci's on West 66th St. is what's left of the family store IIRC (if I recall correctly). There are still legal battles going on I think after the Village store closed. This location opened after that, I think. My memory may be fuzzy though.

My DH keeps complaining about the way we celebrate Valentine's Day here in the States. He says that it's just a "Hallmark Holiday" and protests mightily the fact that there are Valentine's Day cards for your parents, children, uncles, aunts, cousins, postman, teacher, pets etc., etc.....

He says that back in England (the land of all that is good, right and noble.....) valentines are to be given anonymously  (that's not spelled right is it?) and in secret, to be discovered by chance in odd places.... and he shouts from the rooftops (really, the neighbors are complaining) that all the Valentine's  Day cards are RUINED, RUINED I tell you, by adding the words "Happy Valentine's Day" at the bottom of the card....so I "whited out" the Happy Valentine's Day on the card I gave him

DR Ben - Thank YOU for the lead to Citarella.  They appear to have a location very convenient to where I'm staying next month.  I'll be on 46th between Avenue of the Americas and 7th Ave., and they're at 49th and Avenue of the Americas.

Mr. Barrett, commonly know hereabouts as the Sexiest Man Alive (SMA) for the newer posters, will, according to his web site, be singing in Barcelona (as opposed to singing "Barcelona") the week before our Jewish Thighs gathering and BK's book signing.  Perhaps he can be persuaded to attend one or both upon his return?

Let Me Call You Sweetheart

Let me call you sweetheart,
I'm in love with you.
Let me hear you whisper
that you love me, too.
Keep the love-light burning
in your eyes so blue.
Let me call you sweetheart,
I'm in love with you.

"There are several "parodies" of this number--

One we taught outselves on the elementary
school playground was

Let me call you Lizzie, I'm in love with you.
Let me see your head lights and your tail lights too.
Keep your wipers wiping on your windshield new.
Let me call you Lizzie, you old Ford you."
