True DR JMK - but since your site is the college education on Frances, I thought DR HISAKA had better go to elementary school first. :)

Yes, who would have thought the origin of 23 Skidoo would be so convoluted and disputed.  English is an interesting language to be sure.

DR CP - reading about your housing changes and improvements....does your house have a Hollywood celebrity in its history?

DRMBARNUM thanks for the Classics Image copy.  Your interview with William Reynolds was terrific.  Really enjoyed reading it.  I found out a lot of interesting things.  And the photos were great!

I also loved the Sally Fraser interview in the same issue.  What a great bunch of memories she has.

It's fun to read about a couple of people who are realistic about what they did and had fun doing it - but moved on with their lives - and in fact HAD lives away from their work.

THANKS!

MR BK is getting highlights in his hair.  You will look lovely at the Courts Show this weekend, in case anyone wants to take a photo!

I remember the FRIENDS album cover, too.  Kind of a racy drawing and all that pink!  I think the film was on late night on the CBS movie many many years ago, but I didn't see all of it.

DRMBarnum, I just got in today's post the copy of CLASSIC IMAGES you were kind enough to send.  Thank you for your generosity.  As you know I already purchased a copy, so I have an extra one I'd be happy to offer another DR if you don't mind.

JRand54, no celebrity that I know of...though we met Tom Sturges (I think that's his name) at some WGA function and apparently he lived here at one time.  Where my Gunga Din poster hangs in the front hall is where he once hung one of his father's posters His father was Preston Sturges.

Kanto Wanderer is good, but not my favorite of his films.  I like his wackier stuff, like Youth of the Beast (just out from Criterion).

Very interesting, DR CP.  And of course then you are just two degrees away from Frances Farmer....right, JMK?

Mr. Floor Man has been and gone.  He will first send out roof people to really repair the two problem areas, then he'll do the floor.  He assures me it's a one day deal to relay it, and then another day or two to refinish, but I'll have full use of my bedroom, and my work routine won't be disrupted.  So, excellent.

Well maybe I will pick up YOUTH OF THE BEAST as well. The actor, Akira Kobayashi is in KANTO WANDERER and he appeals to me...well, he looks appealing, as I have never seen him in a movie  before  8)

Here is another Japanese Yakuza movie from the 60s that I think I will need to buy....

Thanks JRand54! Glad it arrived!

Maybe we should go ride horses on Sally's ranch sometime!

Elmore3003, yes, feel free to pass that Classic Images on to someone!

Yes, I think I had read a review of THE DAYDREAMER when it came out on DVD. I just didn't make any move to get myself a copy of it. I would like to see it again, and seems like I noticed it on one of the premium pay movie channels not too long ago either.

I'll be watching ALIAS "live" because it looks SO much better in high definition. I'll record AI and watch it later zipping through the commercials.

Black-Tight Killers - in Color!  Sounds like a winner to me!  I love the tagline:
girl gangs ASSAULTING AND KILLING for kicks!

Kind of like The Violent Years:  Pajama Parties! Heavy Petting! And Murder!!

Elmore3003- I'd be glad to take that Classic Images off your hands if you haven't promised it to someone else yet!

FRIENDS is one of those record albums that haunts bargain bins nationwide. I would never have heard of the movie but for the fact of seeing that pink LP hundreds of times in my record siftings.

I got around to watching MEDIUM today, and I loved it. The show always has surprises and the visions she has are not always as they appear. The surprises come when we see how her visions actually work in real life. Just wonderful.

Also enjoyed last night's SCRUBS and COMMITTED. Valerie Harper played Nate's mother in the latter show, and it's always a pleasure seeing her.

As for SCRUBS, half of the show was filmed before a live audience (it's actually a one camera show generally), and I LOVED when the dyspeptic janitor made his entrance and the audience just ATE HIM UP. He's my favorite character, too.

Elmore3003- Cool. Let me know when is good.

Me mother called from Indiana, and she sold somebody's house and the guy was like, "I have all these boxes of records and I don't know what to do with them." She smartly said, "My son would probably take them." Oh indeed!

So I have to call tonight to have her tell me what the records are. Could be junk, but in a few hundred, there must be some goodies. Worst case: A lot of late 70s poorly pressed million sellers like Boston, Journey, that sort of thing. But the guy was older, so it could be some good stuff. We'll see!

Matt H. , I saw DAYDREAMER once eons ago shortly after it first came out...maybe its first TV run.  I can't say I was overwhelmed.  and, truthfull, with the exception of DAYDREAMER, I remember most of the other songs being rather negligible.

"Believe it or not, I'm walking on air...." -- I am aghast, agape and astounded!!!  My DVD of the First Season of "The Greatest American Hero," ordered yesterday from Amazon.com with a 2nd business day delivery request, arrived TODAY.  Less than 24 hours after I ordered it.

Wow.

My lunch today, taken at "Cre-Asian", a small restaurant in San Leandro CA:

Hot/Sour Soup
Tempura Asparagus
Jasmine Rice plate with Pineapple Beef/Teriyaki sauce

I'm still full, and it's been almost two hours.

It was w-o-n-derful!

My ask BK question:

If you ever do another label would you sell the cds like ITunes does? (By the single song or the album).

When I begin the journey of a new label, I have many interesting notions, which I've had for the last two years.  I can't really discuss those notions because we know certain types read this here site and we wouldn't want to be giving them any ideas.  But, rest assured, I have interesting notions.

I'm thinking about food.  Writing today has been a struggle, but I like the way it's coming out - but it's not going to be an eight page day like yesterday.  Today I'll be lucky to get four pages, but that's fine.
