Would you play the Dorothy Collins part or the Ethel Shutta part?

Good afternoon!

I've just awakened from a lovely 75 minute nap. Didn't plan on it, but I had a wonderful lunch here topped off with freshly baked cake, and the eyes just couldn't stay open.

While prepping the food, I watched another CSI episode from Season 2. This one featured two cases: a teenager found dead in the home of his therapist. The other featured the death of a construction worker who seemingly fell (or was pushed) from the fifth floor of a building under construction.

While the cake cooled, I watched a LAW & ORDER: CRIMINAL  INTENT episode from the Season 3 DVD set. This involved the murder of some owners of eyewear establishments. Very unusual case.

Then, I put in the movie CLUE, but I only got about 30 minutes in before sleep began to consume me.

It's always been kind of a silly dud of a film, but I'll finish it later today.

I am sure everyone has heard the slogan:

What happens in Vegas,
Stays in Vegas.

My new invalid condition has forced me to adopt a similar mantra:

What falls on the floor,
Stays on the floor.

Back from a lovelier than lovely brunch - only ate a little salad, so I can basically still eat whatever I feel like later.

Guess I'll get to today's cleaning chores and then finish CLUE. After it's over, I have no idea what will come next.

Mmmm, chicken and rice casserole is almost done and it's beginning to smell good!  My DH and my DS are circling, wanting to know how soon dinner will be ready.

T.O.D.

My Mother's homemade Tamale Pie.  Knowing that I was a finicky eater, she knew I wouldn't eat anything with a corn meal crust on top, because it was something new that I hadn't tried before.  So, my Mother blended the corn meal directly into the other ingredients, and then topped the pie with more cheddar cheese.  It was heaven!

Unfortunately, my sister and I  (in our stupidity) allowed my mom's recipe book to go to the estate sale.

DR Jane.   Shepherd's Pie - with Lamb!  What else. (A vegetarian can be excused.
 Using Beef = "Cottage Pie"

Shepherd's pie peppered with actual shepherd. (not one who has been washing his socks by night).

TOTD: Favorite thing was marinated venison and mushrooms....

Love Kuchen and Kolaches. My paternal great-grandmother was a fantastic cook and her Kuchen was the best as was her sauerbraten. My paternal grandmother, who is descended from Germans who lived in the Czech republic, made wonderful apricot kolaches. She also made wonderful cinnamon rolls and other treats.  She even taught me how to make homemade noodles. BTW, blow dryers come in handy to dry them on a humid day!

I got back from seeing "X-Men III" a couple of hours ago.  It's supposed to be the last of three, but if you stay until the bitter end (meaning after ALL the credits), there's a 30 second coda that changes everything. ;) Otherwise, it was quite good...as good as comic book movies go.  The plot made sense, there was quite a bit of emotion (but only if you've seen the first two movies) and the special effects were fantastic.

Oh, and here's a bit of a SPOILER:

BK's very own landlord gets killed within the first 15 minutes or so. :o
