Didja y'all notice that I misspelled "bee"?  I went back and fixed it.

Wasn't A BOY NAMED CHARLIE BROWN the first spelling bee musical?

"I before E except after C"

I liked how the kids were eliminated in that movie.

"Pop!"

Two words I always have to look up:  similar and familiar.

Does anyone think the finale of SWEENEY TODD was borrowed from Rod McKuen?  :)

Here and there and all around
But people after all
Start out as being small
We're all a boy named Charlie Brown"

I am loving how fast this here site is working since Mr. Mark Bakalor archived all those posts (over 150,000 of them).  Apparently, having them all in one place was the culprit.

Does Tony night get any coverage here on HHW, or does the time delay out West make it impossible to talk about on here without spoilers?

Storm is still a'ragin' outside.  Lightning and thunder is terrible.  I tried running to my governess's bedroom, but she just puffed on her cigerette and said, "Beat it, kid!" and continued leafing through her copy of CONFIDENTIAL.  The half-empty glass of vodka on her bedstand told me I better do as she says.

Time for the old "toad under the comforter trick!"  ;D

My memory is that we had a fascinating Tony night last year.

DR JRand55, how did SOM go tonight?  I totally was negligent in wishing you a success tonight and I apologize.  I was thinking positive thought, however!

Yes, this is the place to be for Tony night.  East Coasters have to keep mum on winners, but otherwise it's quite a festively festive partay here at haineshisway.com

I hope no one was injured.  I have this memory - which I seem to have nothing but tonight - that something similar happened recently in Long Island or Staten Island.

Re houses exploding... Many years ago, in Toronto, late one night I was lying in bed discussing the fragility of life with my husband. (I swear!) And suddenly, the house next-door exploded. Good timing!
We ran outside, as did the woman who was renting the house. She'd been in the shower and was only wearing a towel. Thought I'd share...

As for Tony night, even though I'm on the left coast, I'll be watching a live feed at an Actors Fund  Benefit Tony Party. Should be fun.

SPELLING SPOILER

There was some musical word in the bee (I think it was sciolto) which Skip said should have had at least an alternate pronuciation, and that alternate pronunciation might have clued the kid in on the proper spelling.

I always thought that the Baroness gives up on the Captain too easily.  She should have used her connections in Berlin to try to force him to drop Maria and marry her.  It might have gotten her a solo number.
