DR elmore - One more possible suggestion/solution...

Since you do have a date that you know you want to fly out, and I'm guessing a time frame is not that big an issue...  And I also don't think you're worrying about accumulating frequent flyer miles/point at this time...

I would try to see what kind of prices come up on those last-minute deals sites like Hotwire.com, etc...

If you get a good deal, then take it.  You may not know the airline nor the time of day you're flying.

Then cancel your existing reservation on USAir - or United  - I've lost track.  Yes, you will be penalized anywhere from $75-100, but all the major airlines do that now.  You may end up getting out of NYC and to Ohio for well under $496.   And also sooner rather than later.

Well...  My "AAAARRRGGHHH!!!!" that I posted earlier today was in response to a couple of things.  -I can't share all the details, but...  Let's just say it's been, in the words of Charlie Brown - at least I think it was Charlie Brown... This has been a very discouraging day...  Well, more like very frustrating.

-An upcoming project/gig may end up getting postponed due various reasons/problems.

;)

DR Jose, that means we can get together next week?

We'll see.  I'll have a better idea after yet one more conference call tomorrow morning at 11:00.

You know...I think you'd stand a great chance of flying standby...at around the exact time you want to go.  All you do is show up and ask about flying that way.

Price should be much less, too, IIRC.

DRs Ron and Jose, thanks for the advice.  What I don't want to deal with now is changing the reservation from July 18-25 that I already made to another date.  My original plan was to book several flights in the upcoming months and use them, knowing that one would need to be changed for the big emergency trip.  Truth is, a last minute flight is cheaper than rebooking.  A new ticket for next wednesday is $392, and with the $244 additional charges to reschedule and charge me for the $392 ticket, it's costing me $492 or whatever the hell it was!

Congratulations DR Vixmum.

MMM  I wonder if there would have been less anxiety etc if DR Larry and Mr Flapapiano had dealt with each other's problems today.  Soothing thoughts to the both of you.

Thank you DRs for the "feedback" re the OzDerek memorial.  A Melba toast to you all and may your day be peachy.  My niece's partner Xavier is the manager/vineculturist  for the Melba Estate. My niece thus dwells on the beautiful Melba Estate.

That's really sad. It takes a long long time to grow an oak tree

Well, I had a fairly good day at work until late in the afternoon when things got very frustrating due to problem I've been complaining about for a year, but I can't get my boss to do anything about it.  He's coming up tomorrow so I'm going to have to tell him this just will not do.

I visited my client in the intensive care ward at the hospital today. He looks great for what he put himself through. He was in good spirits and very happy to see me. He has a trach tube and can't talk real well, but I let him know that I was very glad his attempt failed and that he needs to work on getting better and sticking around.  My investigator visited him in the morning, so my guess is that's the most attention he's had from visitors since he got there.  It was so good to see him grinning from ear to ear.

Got my photos back of my day with Taylor to see Swan Lake! So now I shall force upon you my family album! LOL!

First we have my nephew John (Taylor's dad) and grand-nephew Ben awaiting my arrival...no doubt the beer at this time in the afternoon is just for medicinal purposes!

DR Elmore - I'm sorry you've had such a hassle with your travel plans.  Like DR Jose said, "Breathe."

DR GINNY I posted the CHOCOLATE dates the other day....let me know if you need them again.  DR CP is not commenting, so my guess is, he is uninterested in the trip....Kentucky being lovely this time of year.

DR JRand - it's not looking good for me to get over to Indiana either of those weekends.  One is my Saturday to work and the other is a meeting that I have to attend in Columbus.
