The next laserdisc I want to take out and watch again is Ken Russell's THE BOY FRIEND. I haven't watched it in a long time, and I want to see what it looks like to me now.

But I'm thinking tonight, I'll watch FUNNY GIRL on DVD. I haven't watched it in a long time even though many of the other big musicals of that period I've watched far more often.

Yes, that's the :30 of the commercial.  The :60 is more fun - lots more music.

I was wrong - it's 106 out.  I fear for the bird babies.  They're getting big and sitting up but their mother is gone most of the time and I think they're hot and hungry.  I wish mom would feed them more and be around more.  This heat is ridiculous.

No posts in an hour and yet I see four people just sitting on their butt cheeks.

Our baby birds left the nest a few days after we returned home.  We were lucky & saw the last one take off.

Bruce-I hope your babies are okay.

Oh yes, I told them, but they wouldn't believe me department:

(A Girl from Utah reference, of course).

Oy.  I have been spending all afternoon doing a huge music editing (as in WAV files) job because the idiots wouldn't believe me when I told them recording an amateur children's choir on songs with up to 20 verses (no joke) virtually doomed them to failure without adequate rehearsal time.  So here I am cobbling together sometimes 4-5 second moments from various takes to get a usable piece.  Add to this it's already mixed down to a master with the accompaniment (I know, I know), and you have some idea of the challenge I'm facing.  I must say it's sounding better than I expected, but my expectations were nil, LOL.  The good news they now owe me more money than evah!!  (I did the sequencing/arrangements for the original sessions).

Enjoying some dinner between shows in my office near the theatre.  Nothing is air conditioned, even the theatre.  It's very warm.  The coolest place is in the car.  I feel sorry for the cast who are all bundled in wool jackets and hats, and at one point, it snows.

Saturday greetings!  My day started at 7am, when the person who I thought was driving to Columbus pulled into our driveway and asked if I could drive instead (she hadn't slept well last night).  Not a problem - she took her car home and I picked her up there and we were on our way.  More than 10 hours later, I returned home for a quiet supper with DH Richard and a viewing of the BBC version of Gaudy Night.

Cillaliz-I’ll see if I can get tickets for the 5th....

Oh, I forgot to put The Drowsy Chaperone on my list!  Should I try for the 5th as well?

During the last walking and eating tour, I had to leave early and missed the Chelsea Market.  That's on my list of places to go, but don't know if I'm up for the whole walking and eating tour either.

Chelsea Market is one of the places I wanted to take DH Richard last January, but we didn't make it.  I'd like to go earlier and plan to stay longer.

TOD:

My book group has an August tradition of reading a book, having a potluck dinner, and watching the movie adaptation of the book.

We've done this for:

Isabelle Allende's The House of the Spirits

A. S. Byatt's Possession

Laura Esquival's Like Water for Chocolate

Charles Frazier's Cold Mountain

David Guterson's Snow Falling on Cedars

Norman McLean's A River Runs Through It

Annie Proulx's The Shipping News

Catherine Hyde Ryan's Pay It Forward

William Makepeace Thackeray's Vanity Fair

Next month, it's Myla Goldberg's Bee Season.

Okay.

I get it.

Global warming.

I've long been a supporter of efforts to stem the tide.

But it got up to 97 in Oakland today.  Shattered ANCIENT records.

Enough.

The title of my next book:

"Ann Coulter, the Whore of Babylon & Other Supreme Bitches."

I may agree to a musical version of it.

Hi all.  I finely had a moment to sit down and read posts and the phone rings!   By the time got off the phone I forgot  I was on line.

We were threatened with a big bad thunder storm this afternoon right when I wanted to mow the grass.  I bought a new cheep lawn mower since the other one broke down and went out to use it.  I thought lawn mowers were put together--all the ones I bought in past only had to have the handles raised and they were ready to go.

Imagine my suprise when I opened the box and it was nothing but a bunch of parts!

I put it back in the car and took it back to the store (Walmart) who offed to have it assembled for me.  I should get it by next weekend but the yard really needs to be done.  So I guess I'll have to use the electric mower tomorrow.  Sigh.

You would be shocked if you saw my hair now.  It is short, short, short and I do mean short.

It is nice and cool and hair always can grow back so I'll deal with it.

I would love to do the whole walking tour all over again.  Only this time I would pack more comfortable shoes and I wouldn't go on a Grey line tour the day before.

After two days of walking around I was tired beyond tired.

Jane, I really liked the pictures of your trip.

I've tried to get my Mom to go on a cruise but she is afraid of water.

"But Mom,"  I tell her, "It's a BIG ship!"

"Ever hear of the Titanic?", Is her reply.

When I come out of my shocked state, maybe I can say it is cute.   ;D

I still can't believe I did it.

I thought it would be good for my hair to get rid of all the split ends and such.

Danise-guess you didn't read about the ship that tipped over and then back up.  A few people were injured and they all had a good scare.

I will post more photos during the week.

To keep it healthy as it grows back I hope you won't need to blow it dry, just put something on it for body & let it dry naturally.
