I'm sleeping late a lot these days!  Good morning, all!  I was up at 6:30 when the alarm went off, then went back to bed.  I had this strange dream about copying music from the original orchestra score for "Easter Parade" from the AS THOUSANDS CHEER score.  Somehow, my dad was in the dream as well, and there was this discussion about the whole number or only sections of it.  It makes no sense now that I'm awake.

I've got some computer work on THE LADY OF THE SLIPPER today, as well as a trip to my doctor who lanced the abscess.  I screwed up my appointment date and missed seeing him for dismissal before I returned to Ohio.  So, today, he'll check out his work and, hopefully, release me.

DR td, the responsibility for being a lifeline is huge.  I was flattered when Charlie asked me in 2001; I was one of four froiends he chose.  On the day he was on the show, he had a medical question he couldn't answer so he used his lifeline in Boston, a doctor.  My memory is that he won close to $100,000, and he was smart enough to quit when a question he was unsure of came up that he knew I could answer and he couldn't use my help.  The question: who was Nora Charles of THE THIN MAN based on?  Tallulah Bankhead? Lillian Hellman? Dorothy Parker?

After he won, he decided to do something for and with each of his lifelines.  He took me to see THE PRODUCERS and dinner.  I called the conductor for house seats and we had a great evening out.  He used the money to pay off his college loans, put some in savings, and took a nice vacation.

TOD:
CD:  Babes in Toyland, The Lady of the Slipper, Guy Haines, The Wiz (OBC)
DVD:  several operas, Jeeves & Wooster complete season 1

Birthday wishes to JHVW!

Ah 23, that's the age I was when I began my romance with Rodzinski.

And now you're the world's oldest fiancee since Miss Adelaide!

I booked my trip to California last night- thank you Jet Blue for your wonderful sale.  I'm going for a week over labor day weekend.  And since I've already essentially made my decision, I can spend all my time by the pool just reading magazines and pondering the absurdity of celebrity relationships.

I'll have to teach Rodzinski how to give Walty his pill.  It's much easier now that I drop it into his mouth with a piece of pounce.  His love of pounce is stronger than his hatred of the pill.  I no longer have to worry about him cheeking then then spitting it out later.

I think it's great that DR td has made it this far for MILLIONAIRE.

I had a friend who made it to the NYC round of testing for either JEOPARDY or MILLIONAIRE (I've forgotten which; they had preliminary rounds here in Charlotte scouting for contestants), but he didn't survive that round in NYC.

I am so lucky that Callie is good about her pills.  I hold her like a baby on her back and open her mouth and put it way back on her tongue and she swallows it without really thinking about it.  Sometimes she gives me this surprised look like "What on earth was that???"

My other cats are not nearly as cooperative.

Sounds like the Pounce was a great idea for Walty

Larry, I see you're listening to The Wiz (OBC). Will you have anything to do with the upcoming revival, now out in California and headed for Broadway later in the season?

Dear Esteemed, sinewy, and rippled BK --

I'm glad things are going well on so many different projects for you!  I'm afraid I also couldn't see the "Cracked" cover, but only the little white square with the red X in the center.  Ah, technology.

Since you were so unfairly flummoxed out of your yummy meal last night (damn them!), I thought I'd post this little picture of a wonderful meal with your good self, DR Kerry, and DR Laura a couple of years ago at Dan Tana's wonderful restaurant!  It was an evening of great fun.

I'm up, I'm up.  Not enough sleep (my own fault - went to bed way too late), but what sleep I got was fine.

Jrand, I liked Scandal a lot - just not as much as Stray Dog - and if you think Mifune is intense in Scandal, you ain't seen nothin' yet - he's REALLY intense in Stray Dog.

I think that was way more than a couple of years ago, and man has the gray hair overtaken the brown - I think that's just happened in the last two years.

No, DR Ben, it does not.  I ddn't know there was a revival planned!  I bought on the street a couple of years ago a piano/conductor score for the show that had been used on Broadway by one of it's conductors.  I wanted to follow the score with the recording.

This is my last day to get a few things done and details taken care of, before leaving on my trip tomorrow.  DR Kerry has volunteered to drive me to the airport at 4:45 AM tomorow ..... UGH!

I shall miss reading all of BK's wonderful columns and the sparkling posts whilst I'm gone, but I can't take a laptop with me, and I'm not sure of the "high tech" level of some of the hotels I'll be in while in the UK.

As I used to say to DRs (when I was going to be gone for awhile) -  "While you're here in BK's Living Room, play nice, don't fight, leave a few ham chunks for the next person, and don't pee on the floor."

You don't want to anger She of the Evil Eye !

I just wanted to say thanks for everyone wishing me a happy b'day. It sure says alot when you people have hardly met me but give me such thanks. Got a big day planned with dinner with my parents and twin brother, then off to an afternoon/evening of drinking around the various haunts in this little town. Should be a blast though, thanks again!
