Thanks again for all the birthday wishes.  I'll try to post more this year (I know some of you are saying "good" and others are saying "oh no").

VHS - The 3 Topper films that TCM broadcast the other morning.  So far they are not as funny as the TV series.

DVD - SAN FRANCISCO, further proof that when not saddled with Nelson, Jeanette was much easier to take.

CD - A 15 CD set of English and American pop music from the 30s to the early 50s.

OH? NO!!!!!!!! ;D

Gee! I did not know they could ALSO play piano!
Such talents! ;)

I sort of wonder if Boogie would have gone very far without Will being there. Erika made it on her own...Boogie rode on Will's coattails and only did Will's dirty work...and I don't like Boogie...so therefore I want Erika to win.

Oh boogie would not have gone far without will. But that said boogie still did a lot of the dirty work for the team. And he did win some comps. And he did win the final 2 parts of the hoh. That counts for something.

I do not like boogie either.  But i'm not that fond of erika right now either.

big brother talk, minor spoilers i guess.

re: wanting erika to win cause boogie is still playing her.

Yup I want her to win even more....he's still playing her.

It's funny but i feel the opposite.  When she realized that boogie was playing her, and rallied against the men with janelle i liked erika and might have rooted for her to win.  But for her to be played a second time makes her seem pitiful. I mean she knows he played her. Why doesn't see realize he is doing it again.

more big brother talk

I think Erika has a chance. What did Boogie do? Nothing but ride in on Will's coat tails.  Erika may have gone where the wind blew her but she is the one who convinced Janelle to vote out Will.   I think Janelle will support her and that may make a difference

I think erika has a chance but not a good one. What did erika do? She floated from one alliance to another only making a move right near the end. Boogie actually played the game the whole time. He and will were huge targets.

I don't think janelle will vote for erika. In fact on the way out janelle told boogie he deserved to win. Plus on Housecalls Will said that he is planning on working the jury. So basically he will be working on behalf of mike for a whole week.  Just based on this alone i think mike wins.

One last big brother comment.

DR Cillaliz said she would have voted for George for america's choice.

Actually if i could vote my first choice would be janelle, and 2nd will.

Interestingly enough janelle will win more than erika. Because apparently the sequester stipend is like $30k.

I watched the Mel Brooks interview with Dick Cavett this afternoon when I got in. Very enjoyable. Mel still has a good head on his shoulders. Cavett seemed a bit slower on the uptake at the start but settled in after awhile, and I sat there watching the show as if it were 30 years ago.

Compared to the sorry likes of Jay Leno, Dick Cavett is like an oasis in the desert.

Belated breaking of legs, JRand!

Congrats on being cast (or eaten) DR George.

I've just finished gathering together all my junk treasures for the garage sale tomorrow.

Found the perfect way to spend the sad evening of 9/11. There's a one-time performance (staged reading) of Elegies at the UCLA Freud Playhouse. Wonderful cast. Got a couple of tickets and there I be.

Then, I finished SKY CAPTAIN AND THE WORLD OF TOMORROW. A fun comic book on film even if I still think Paltrow's character is a sort of wet blanket on the whole show.

Watching the Dick Cavett interview with Mel Brooks, reminded me that Dick Cavett is rather self-obsessed in his interviewing skills.  He somehow uses the questions for his interview subject to launch off on reminsces of his time with Groucho or some old joke of his, making everything come back to him.  His attempt to close the show with some old vaudeville bit of patter and song was particularly lame where he has to first tell Mel what joke they should tell and then what song they should sing.  All rather forced and self-reverential.  I want to hear about Mel's life; not Cavett's.  He really needs to take himself out of the interview.

Listening to:

Frankie Laine
Louis Jordan
Fred Astaire (an old album called NOW)

Watching:  A DVD of an RSC production of THE WINTER'S TALE with Anthony Sher.

DR George is soon to star in a PORNO musical called:

Can He Ball?!?

Oh, my! I don't know what to think of that!

Umm...that's not quite correct (sadly ;)).

Ah, Jennifer, haven't you ever been in love with a bad boy? They are the hardest to walk away from....Sigh.....I don't blame Erika. I think she wants to believe that he really cares for her and the game play was just the game.  She knows he's a bad boy, she's said as much, but she's attracted to him, they are alone, she's guaranteed at least $50,000....I don't blame her

Plus Janelle is almost worse. She's still in love with Will while he's off trying to patch things up with Erin. I'm curious how he'll behave toward her in the sequester house

Thanks, Maria!

And I'd love to be there for that performance of "Elegies."  I enjoy (if that's the right word) the CD and I love William Finn's music.  That sounds like where one should be that night.  I don't have any specific plans, myself.

Irritating moment of the day at work.   The same secretary I was talking about yesterday had a new case for me.  Of course she didn't tell me right away. I don't get that...anyway I had on the calendar..."Callie to vet" in the 2:30 pm timeslot.   So she sets a hearing for me at 2:15pm.  I said I can't do that. Her response was "I saw it on the calendar but I didn't know you had it at a specific time"  I said "Well, isn't it on the calendar at 2:30?"  Anyway,  as I'm leaving the office I was running a little late, she said "Do you have to go get Callie?"  Hello...this is a cat we're talking about...I said "Well it isn't like she can meet me there"  Don't people even think before they speak?

I probabaly could have gone back for an hour or so, but I have work to do this weekend, so I just said she could reach me by phone.  I am so out of there.

Oh I think Callie is fine, she was just having follow up bloodwork done to see how her calcium levels are.  The vet wants to keep her on a very low dose of prednisone because when she goes off it her levels rise.  Hmmmm

I better go upstairs and get ready to go to my friend Mark's opening tonight. He's had a few shows of his art at his studio, but this is at an actual gallery, so we are all going to be supportive.

Tomorrow night is the opening for the show Paul is curating at the Art Center.  It's kind of a cool thing. Local artists who are also family members - 2 brothers, husband and wife and I think brother and sister.   I do know a couple of the artists, too, so that should be a fun opening.
