Salmon and trout are my two favorite fishes. I love mussels, clam, crab, lobster, sea urchin, eel, abalone, and there is so much more I haven't even tried yet.

Sea urchin. You're hardcore! So far, I think you qualify as the seafood king, MBarnum!

There is a sushi that has sea urchin and it is quite yummy! Probably much tastier then the fresh from the bottom of the sea version you tried! LOL!

Nooooo! I hate that one, too! As we say here in the South, it "beats you to the swallow". I don't like the sushi with the big salmon eggs, either. (We used to fish with those...) I like the small roe, tho.

I can be partial to Mahi-Mahi and Swordfish, too, if they're prepared well.

DR Cillaliz re: that dancing with the stars predictor site.

It doesn't seem to be working right now. But it made perfect sense the week i looked at it (the week before last).

It showed emmitt in first with 25. That means he had 25% of the vote. Mario was in second with 13%.  To me that means that emmitt is the most popular by far (since others like jerry springer had only 5 %)

Getting the most votes does not necessarily equate to being the most popular on these phone-in-your-votes reality shows.

5,000 people can cast 25,000 votes.  Emmitt could be reaping multiple votes from a small band of fans.  That doesn't make him more popular than anyone who is getting one vote per fan.  It means his fans are rabid, but not necessarily the majority.

It can be a very false number...any time voting can be done as many times as you want (and they LOVE to rack up those dollars from the calls), the result is skewed and is never a true reflection of total numbers of fans FOR anyone.

That is WHY "American Idol" champions have fizzled so fast, IMO.  Folks who put Ruben over the top weren't there when he cut his first CD.  Ditto with Fantasia....and I'll be very surprised if Taylor Hicks sells many CDS, too.  The fans who cast hundreds of votes each per show won't be buying 100s of CDs each.

Our hosts cooked the mussels, and then opened the sea urchins and ate them raw. They insisted I eat one, too. As I put this disgusting slimy yellow creature in my mouth, they took my picture.

What! A radish-root hugging Belle of the South repulsed by a poor little sea urchin! So it's "As God is my witness, I'll never go hungry again - unless it's urchin!"

der Brucer

True Confession:

I love raw oysters, escargot, octopus, sushi.
I loathe sweetbreads and kidneys.
Sea Urchin is further down the list

Hansel and Gretel, slowly working their way through the dark forest, came upon the thatched cottage of the awful Edisaurus, where, it is rumored, child baking, film editing and other unsavory activities go on.

Thursday greetings!  It's lunchtime in the ol' cube and I'm enjoying leftover chicken spaghetti from last night's dinner.

Happiest of birthdays to DR Jed!  How's the library?

TOD - I like most seafood, as long as it's cooked.  A few memorable meals that come to mind:

Fried clams at the snack bar on the pier in Avon-by-the-Sea, NJ - the best!

Grilled salmon fingers on mild parmesan rice at Cafe Anticolli here in Dayton

A Door County, WI, fish boil - more for the experience than for the food

Goddam Time Warner has screwed up their entire clientele's email address and passwords.  I can neither receive nor send emails today, and my hour on the phone with them - about 40 minutes of it waiting for a rep - has not increased my happiness today.

I shall now be on my way to the casting session, followed by rehearsal, followed by recording the tune.  Keep the home fries burning until my returning.

Thanks for sharing the lovely pictures of Vancouver and Victoria.

When I was in Vancouver a few years back, my cousin and I stayed at the 2400 Motel in Vancouver, BC. Ironically, a week after I returned, there was an episode of X Files that was shot in the room where my cousin and I stayed.
