TOD - My cheesy potatoes, which start with frozen hash browns.  You add cream cheese, cream of celery soup, a little onion and bake.  Top with shredded cheddar cheese right before serving.  Yum.
Oh wow, that sounds quite yummy! *writes it down on a post-it note*

I guess I'll be jogging post-rehearsal.  I have some stuff to package and ship this morning, and then hair products to pick up, and then rehearsal, after which, I shall return.

Elmore - Yowza! What a list from Gelbart. No wonder I'm exhausted by the news!

Topic of the Day - "One Potato, Two Potato"
(1) I like McDonald's French Fries and also In 'n' Out's French Fries. One is crisp/limp and the other is soft/limp. Mmm...
(2) One of my favorite recipes from my mother...
Lebanese Potato Salad
4 large potatoes (you can use unskinned red potatoes for added color)
1 small clove garlic
Salt and pepper to taste
1/2 cup lemon juice
1 small onion, chopped
1/3-1/2 cup parsley, coarsely chopped
1/3 cup olive oil

1. Scrub potatoes and boil as for potato salad. Cool and dice into 1" cubes.
2. Mash garlic with seasonings. Add lemon juice, stirring well. Add the rest of the ingredients and toss, mixing well.
3. Serves 4-6.

Note: I usually eat this salad cold. IMO, what really makes it tasty is the combo of lemon juice and potatoes.

You'll notice that I discreetly left no reference to the "great balls of fire" - your's or anyone elses.  Somehow, I feel that those references will be well covered by DRs TCB, TomovOz, DerBrucer, and the always lovely elmore !
And with that prompting:

Great Balls of Fire: Rocky Mountain Oysters with a Chipotle sauce.

You city slickers may also know this delight as: Barnyard Jewels, Montana Tendergroin or Cowboy Caviar.

Salt-and-pepper potatoes. These are potatoes cut up into large chunks, skin on, then sautéed---probably in olive oil--- with some onions and red and green peppers as well as the aforementioned condiments. I don't know how they do it but the outside skin is crispy and the inside is tender. Dangerous stuff!

This, from Nikibone may do:

Quote
Fried Potatoes

russet potatoes with skins
salt
pepper
garlic powder
olive oil
chopped onion
chopped bell pepper

Scrub potatoes well. Slice potatoes with curly fry cutter. Rinse potatoes with water. Drain. Add potatoes to heated oil in frying pan. Cook on medium high heat until potatoes start to cook. Cover. Cook on low for about 45 minutes to 1 hour, stirring occasionally. Season with salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Add bell pepper and onion, last 5 minutes of cooking. Cook until peppers and onions are tender and potatoes are nicely browned.

The usual trick (German and Southern) in getting potato fries with crispy outsides and tender innards is to pre-cook the potatoes before frying. My Mother always boiled the potatoes with the skins on, then after cooling them on a counter, she would wrap them in paper towels and put them in the fridge overnight (in my house it was an "ice box". Starting with the cold potatoe (Republican spelling) allows the outside to crisp before the inside gets over-cooked.

The website has a cute icon:

AAAARRRRGGGGHHHH!!!!

I thought I set my VCR last night to tape "Doctor Who" and "Battlestar Galactica" but somehow I only set it to tape one hour..."DW" got taped and "BG" didn't! :P At least it's going to be on again on Monday.  I was SUPPOSED to tape this for my sister!  AND I haven't watched last week's episode, either.  I have a lot of other shows to watch this weekend, so it's not as if I had nothing else to do while waiting for it to come on again.

I just submitted my bio for Canninbal:  The Musical!  Here is what I officially submitted:

George P. Dougherty (Judge Melville B. Gerry/James Humphrey’s Father/Indian)

This is George's very first show with TAO and the first time he's performed in more than four years!  He has played such roles as Lord Brockhurst in The Boy Friend for Capitol Playhouse '24 (in 1990…now they're Capital Playhouse); Hero in A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, Tim Allgood in Noises Off and Charlie Brown in You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown for The Abbey Players; and the bartender Sidney Gallagher in the Stardust series for Harlequin Productions.  He has also been most fortunate to have performed in all but two of the BABES WITH BIG HAIR AIDS benefits.  George would like to say "HI" to all the Hainsies and Kimlets in the world!

That's exactly what I sent in. ;D

And now I must go to work so that I can make up some time and start to build up my vacation time.  I've used almost half of all the vacation time I had between looking for and buying a condo, and now I'm using more because I've been leaving work a little early to go to rehearsals.  I don't want to use it all up!

Until later!

And in Spanish: "Huevos del fuego."

True Mexican Delicacy

Quote

A cowboy from Texas stopped at a local cantina following a day of drinking and roaming around in Mexico.

While sipping his tequila, he noticed a sizzling, scrumptious looking platter being served at the next table. Not only did it look good, the smell was wonderful.

He asked the waiter, "What is that you just served?"

The waiter replied, "Ah señor, you have excellent taste! Those are bull's testicles from the bull fight this morning. It's a true delicacy!"

The cowboy, though momentarily daunted, said, "What the heck, I'm on vacation down here! Bring me an order!"

The waiter replied "I am so sorry, señor. There is only one serving per day because there is only one bull fight each morning. If you come early tomorrow and place your order, we will be sure to save you this delicacy, following the bull fight"!

The next morning, the cowboy returned, placed his order, and then that evening he was served the one and only special delicacy of the day. After a few bites, and inspecting the contents of his platter, he called the waiter and said, "These are delicious, but they are much, much smaller than the ones I saw you serve yesterday!"

The waiter shrugged his shoulders and replied, "Si, Señor. Sometimes the bull, he wins.

DR MattH, re: last night's VANISHED.

I wasn't as afraid that i would forget things as i was that i would not be interested anymore. But as you said the show was surprisingly easy to pick up again. And it was quite enjoyable.

I cannot remembetr where i read this, but i believe fox told the show to rap up everything in the next 6 episodes (including last night). Not sure if that will be 13 episodes or much less.
