In my house, when I was growing up, that would usually mean, closet cleaning and old toy discarding ... I hope for your kid's sake you have a diffrent sort of suprise in mind!

Wasn't it only in the 50s and 60s that family fun equated to no fun for the kids?

To tide me over until the January release of Doctor Who: The Complete Second Season, my loving yet cheap der Brucer has provided me with Doctor Who: The Complete Sixteenth Season.  This was the year the Fourth Doctor met Romana, who accompanied him on his quest to locate the six segments of the Key to Time.  Twenty-six episodes, six stories (including The Pirate Planet, written by Douglas Adams of Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy fame).  Enough to tide me over for a little while, at least!   :D

(Why is der Brucer loving yet cheap?  He was able to get the six-disc box set at half-price over at Amazon.  All right, thrifty, not cheap.)

I think it's going to be around for a while, but it hasn't gotten worse...so far.  I think I started on the Dimetapp early enough that the symptoms didn't get a chance to develop.  Overall, I definitely feel "a little bit off" (a Maltby & Shire reference), but at least I'm not hacking up a lung. ::)
