I cannot believe it is December! How fast this year has passed, and I haven't done a single show, so that can't account for the quick passage of time. Seems like yesterday I was doing my taxes on the computer for the first time, and that was back in March! Seems like a couple of weekends ago.

DR GEORGE,
So sorry to hear about your flood--and you just moved in! It's very important to get things dried out as quickly as possible. The company you spoke to is correct: mold can set in within hours. Best of luck.

DR TOMOVOZ,
I rented HUSTLE from Netflix just recently and LOVED it. Very smart, I thought, very fun. I love a good con. Great writing, fine acting. I'm now watching MI-5, the previous series from the same production company. Not usually my sort of thing, but it's also quite impressive. You might want to give it a try, too.

What are your other favorites? (I know you like Poliakoff.)

Friday morning greetings!  Our weather is blustery and we're supposed to see some snow showers later this afternoon - must be December.

TOD - CD(car) - New York, New York - Voices in Song, which I purchased at The Cloisters gift shop.

DVD - United 93, A Prairie Home Companion

My power has been flipping on and off all morning. DOn't exactly understand the reason as the weather is placid right now.

At any rate, I need to go get cleaned up so I can run my usual Friday errands.

Yesterday, TPunk wrote:Thank you.  As much water as was cleaning up, the steam cleaner that I was able to borrow from my neighbor wasn't made to do what I need done (it's still very wet :'(), so I called this company that cleans up after fires and floods and things like that.  They come in and soak up all the water (my condo being built on a solid concrete slab helps), replace the carpet pad, bring in fans to circulate the air, dehumidifiers (large or extra-large) and apply an anti-microbial solution to help prevent mold or mildew, which their website says that it can start within hours of the leak!!  They're going to call back in the morning to set up a time to come.  If they need to come tomorrow, my sister might be able to stay here and let them in (Cannibal:  The Musical opens tomorrow!!), or if it can wait, they can come Saturday morning and take all day.  It's not going to be cheap, but I just got paid and my sister said that she can help (since she just sold her house!).  To paraphrase Blanche DuBois...I have always depended on the kindness of family. ::)

:)

Pardon if this is a painful question, but don't you have insurance?

I'm up, I'm up - too bloody early.  Can anyone recommend someone in NY as a new person to do stuff for me?  My long-time assistant Jonathan's flakiness cannot be tolerated one minute longer, and I've promised to help Rupert Holmes do a demo and someone has to help coordinate the session and the AFTRA paperwork.  It's not that difficult, and there is pay.  I need someone very quickly.

JRand56, indeed Laurie and Diana will be attending the opening night of THE BRAIN with me, as will Laurie's neice Lori and Scotty Morrow of THE COSMIC MAN fame and a couple of his friends. We shall all meet for dinner and then go to the theater together. I can't wait!

PLEASE REMEMBER IT'S RED RIBBON DAY.

I'm wearing my red ribbon "Mamma Mia Angel" pin that DR Jose gave me in Indianapolis.

My manager, a co-worker, and I are off on a "road trip" to the new location of our Outreach Services Department.

Bye for now!

In Today's Column, Bruce Kimmel concluded with:

"After all, it’s the most wonderful time of the year and we must welcome December with open arms as well as open knees."

Errr....umm.....[ahem]....why, BK!!

It's very cold in the home environment, and it's taking a long time for the heater to do its job.  I guess I'll go brave the nippy air and jog and maybe when I return it will be warmer inside.

So, Ben's gone for most of the month, Jane's gone for heaven knows how long, Ann and Jed are being naughty and gone, Jose is too busy for the likes of us (I don't really see how he can be busier than me, but that's another story for another day) - I'm sure there are others I'm forgetting.  The fact that the few of us who are left are keeping the jernt so alive is a real testament to the likes of us.  As to the others - bitch-slaps from here to eternity and hell and back.

There's a high of 72 in NYC today, but a sudden drop to the 40's expected in the evening, with "violent weather" expected specifically between 5 pm and 8 pm.  And of all nights, we have theater tickets.  At least it's only 5 blocks away

Can no one help me find someone in NY to help out on the Rupert project?

BK - I would suspect Elmore would know people who have time and are reliable.  I did a mental rundown of the people we know who might be willing to do that kind of work, and unfortunately the reliability factor is, well, a factor.  :)

Not to say some of our under-employed and less busy friends and associates are not reliable, but - well, i guess i am saying that.

I keep this guy around on my LJ because
a) he's pretty big in the RHPS community &
b) he's just damn funny. He recently posted this, which just amuses me so.

Aww, Mr. Jeff Harlan wrote me back & he won't be able to make it to The Brain. Apparently he's joined some British Invasion cover band & has lots to practice.
