I brought my computer to the new house. We have a lot of car break-ins here so I brought it in. We're painting, but I decided to see if I could get a wireless connection. Thank you, James, whoever you are!

DR EDISAURUS is starting the New Year as a wireless renegade!  8)

She Loves Me had a very nice final performance.

And I stayed for a bit afterwards to say some Goodbyes as well as to get something to eat at the party.  -Thankfully, my stomach is feeling almost back to normal.  Whew!

I've had few New Year's Eve celebrations that actually amounted to enjoyable evenings.

More often than not, someone's feelings got hurt, someone hated the food, someone got into a fight, etc., etc.

Rooms full of people trying way too hard to be too happy.

So... Now I'm gonna attempt to catch up on the post from the past couple of hours... as well as make the requisite phone calls to my family.  -Especially my brother, Jay, who's birthday is January 1 - and most of my family is actually at a surprise party for him tonight down in Virginia Beach, so...  Since I probably won't make it back here by midnight (here on the East Coast, that is)...

A Very Happy New Year To Everyone!

I've had lots of good New Years' Eves.  Some have been at home alone, some have been at parties with friends and some have been with family.  At this point in time I can't remember a bad one...but I'm pretty good a blocking things out

I'm on the brink of losing my battle against a head cold.

I've dosed, spritzed, steamed and vapored myself into a frenzy...and the sad truth of it is that I'm out of ammo.

It's been overcast and cold here today.  Have had a fire going since around 3 p.m. pst.

I don't think I'm gonna last till our midnight, but I'm ready to count down with the eastern Hainsies and wish us all well and stuff.

Associated Press

Quote
Pope Benedict XVI prayed at a New Year's Eve service at the Vatican City in Rome that 2007 would bring the world "peace, comfort, justice." But he cast a cold eye on some secular New Year celebrations, saying such social "rites" are "often carried out as an escape from reality."

I agree - such disrespect on the eve of the Feast of the Circumcism; we should have sausage festivals :D

Concur. The nicest New Year's Eves I've spent have just been a few good friends getting together.

As they say, "It's not where you start, it's where you finish."

I cannot say where it was I started the new year in 2006, but I'm finishing it here, looks like.

It's been QUITE the year...but the most joy I've had in it is the fact that the American public finally woke up to the awful truth about the Bush administration...I'd been soudning alarms about Bush since the day he won his first term with fewer popular votes than Gore.

Bush topped the polls recently as the worst villain and best hero in the world.  The hero vote was a mere 19%, but sufficient for him to lead.  The villain vote was far more substantial...and he topped some truly despicable folks.

Another joyous event was the downfall of Karl Rove.  The evil behind the nimcompoop.

And then there was the Democratic victoriy at the polls in November, giving the party the majority in both houses of Congress.

2006 was QUITE the year.
