I'm really hoping we can have both The Brain and the reissue of Joan Ryan's CD up for preorder mid-next week.  I'll have the Joan discs in next week, and if I can get the Brain CD mastered and into the plant by next Friday, I should be able to have that in about ten days from then - street date will probably be end of Feb with preordered copies shipping the first week of Feb.

Hmm... Maybe the reason I'm not feeling "too alert" is that I woke up with a cold.  Possibly.  Time for the Emergen-C.

HA!  My roommates just woke up.  I thought they were already awake and had headed out for the day.  I think we're having brunch now.  :)

And the word of the day is: TURPITUDE!
Casey would waltz
With a strawberry blonde
Because she believed the TURPITUDE of a tango
Would totally taint their terpsichory.

Thank you for all of the birthday wishes! I wasn't able to sleep in despite my best efforts, but I've spent the morning lounging about. Soon I will head out for a mani/pedi and then to a friend's house to hang out. Tonight I am meeting some friends for drinks.

Ben Turpitude was a fine silent era comedian!

Moral turpitude is something lacking...especially among the righteous.

My dinner last night was AWESOME.

The rack of lamb was superb.  The soup that preceded it was magnificent.

The two glasses of wine were perfection.

The creme brulee and coffee were heaven.

It should surprise no one that all I could do the rest of the evening was to sit in my rocker like so many bags of potatoes and stare at the TV until such time as I felt it apropriate to go to bed.

I've washed a load of sheets this morning.

Time to get them into the dryer, turn my mattress and remake my bed.

Sigh.

The Contemplation of a Bowl of Grits

That's the title of my next essay about Zen Buddhism.

(I don't think writing about the sausage would be appropriate.)

I'm having trouble thinking of anything by Coleman that I haven't liked, too.

I do know that der B and I want to introduce the grandlads to Barnum (the musical) asap.  (We'd introduce them to Barnum (the Michael) and he'd probably charm them, but he lives on the wrong coast.)  We've got the DVD, we've got the CD.

I am sitting in a meeting. People are talking a lot. I am sitting across the room from a large picture window overlooking a beautiful valley. There are birds flying in and out of the trees. There is snow on the mountain.

That is all.

Well... After some e-mails, it looks like I'll going to Jason Graae's new show, "Graae's Anatomy" at Birdland on Monday night... And then the tour of Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf at the Kennedy Center on Thursday night...  So...  Present plan of action: Stay here this weekend.  Go down to DC next Wednesday night... Come back up with the truck the following Tuesday.
