LOL François. Granted the script was out of the ordinary, it was the delivery that seemed ordinary to me. I thought Jake Gyllenhaal did a great job & should have been nominated for best actor, more so than Heath Ledger. I could feel his anguish & think the film might have been improved by focusing more on his character.

It is great the movie industry dealt with this subject. When we saw FAR FROM HEAVEN we walked away wishing it had focused more on the Dennis Quaid character & what he was going through.

And during the original run of Les Miz there was so much stuff rolling into the pit - including actors! - that they started putting netting over the pit. Alas, when Nell Carter lost her balance in DC on stage at the National Theatre in DC during one of the runs of Ain't Misbehavin', there was no net...

Same thing happened in a performance I saw of "No, No, No Net!"

I totally agree with you on all levels! I think Gyllenhaal should have been nominated for best actor! On the other hand, Ledger's character's is much more difficult to portray. I even felt for his wife, who, in the movie, happens to be his real wife too! The last scenes have wonderful acting and heartbreaking emotion (to me) conveyed by the actors playing "Gyllenhaal's" parents!

Far From Heaven is plain terrific!

The Sundance Channel has begun the third season of SLINGS & ARROWS. I missed the first episode and tonight was a repeat of the second. This year the main play is KING LEAR, which has parallels to my two brothers and me, and the star playing Lear is dying from cancer with 2-3 months to live. It's a very moving story line. The actor playing Lear is William Hutt, who has been a major star for the Stratford Festival in Ontario for the past 40 years. The other play in production is a musical about a Canadian crack whore directed by the companies avant garde director, played by one of the writers of THE DROWSY CHAPERONE. What a great series! If you haven't seen this series, Seasons 1 & 2 are now on DVD and you shouldn't miss them.

Speaking of old, I’m reading about the latest identity theft in my AARP magazine (for folks 50 & older) .

Elmore pay attention. Seems identities are being stolen after someone dies. Suggestions:

Mail copies of the death certificate to all three credit-reporting bureaus; Equifax, Experian 7 TransUnion & all credit issuers to cancel accounts.

Cancel the driver’s license to prevent duplicates from being issued.

A few weeks after taking those measures, run a credit report to ensure there’s no suspicious activity. To receive a free report from each bureau…..www.anualcreditreport.com

Could I be any more vague? Damn, wish I could remember what I was looking up when I was reading that? But then I don't get the Sundance Channel, so what does it matter?

ANYWAY - glad to hear the BK Report on THE LUCY DESI COMEDY HOUR.

Tallu in The Celebrity Next Door is my favorite (written for Bette Davis who hurt her back, and quickly rewritten for Bankhead.)

My second favorite is when the Danny Williams family visits and rents the Big House and it's a mess ending with Lucy in bed with Danny. Of course it's all very innocent. Marjorie Lord marches in and does her best face and I am convinced she thought the audience was laughing at her....but believe me - it was Lucy all the way.

When I kept seeing Debra Messing's stage mouth on W/G - I was trying to remember where I used to see it.....Ms Majorie (ain't I funny) Lord as Kathy Williams was doing it almost 50 years before.

But then Marjorie WAS funny...and beautiful....

Jose - Skip baked the red velvet cake, his first attempt at making one. I think it was his first attempt at making an actual cake, as opposed to pies. (He used organic flour, which I do believe made it a little less unhealthy.)
