Just heard DR Ben's review of The Fantasticks over at Radio Whales (SHOWTIME) and they closed it with that gorgeously melodious song from the show:

(As Beverley says "So nice to have back, Ben!")

When the moon was young,
When the month was May,
When the stage was hung for my holiday,
I saw shining lights
But I never knew:
They were you.
They were you.
They were you.

When the dance was done,
When I went my way,
When I tried to find rainbows far away,
All the lovely lights
Seemed to fade from view:
They were you.
They were you.
They were you.

Without you near me,
I can't see.
When you're near me,
Wonderful things come to be.

Every secret prayer,
Every fancy free,
Everything I dared for both you and me.
All my wildest dreams
Multiplied by two
They were you.
They were you.
They were you.

And now "How High The Moon" by dear Ella!

How can my night go wrong? (4:50 am here!)

Jeanne Lulu was very nice and I miss her posting.

Dakota-Congrats on the presentation!  I’m glad you weren’t sick again.  I’m very happy we haven’t had anymore snow storms.  I’m shocked we had a bit more than you did.  Today was the first day in two weeks I could drive car on our road.

THanks Jane...

The snow we got in the past few days is the most we have had all winter.

Resorts Yes...

Camping in tents NO!

I like nature but I also like sleeping in a bed and not on the ground

In any case...

Spring Awakening is what it is.  I'd have to say I was more taken with the whole "experience" of it, rather than the piece itself.  -And from a musical standpoint, Kim Grigsby has done some wonderful vocal work with that cast.

And, frankly, I think the finale seems kind of extraneous.

I really enjoyed the music. Much more in person than on the CD. In part because where I sat on stage it was surround sound harmony hearing the real vocals not just the music through the sound system.

Kim Grigsby was barefoot! That made me chuckle. I was also impressed by the number of cast members that took a turn playing the piano, and it wasn't fake playing, I was sitting right by it so I could tell

I'm back from CURTAINS. They have really cut a lot since Thursday night - 10 minutes to be precise! I'm hoping to see it one more time at some point in the future so I can see where it ends up.  It has really been fun watching it take shape and Rupert had time to talk tonight which was a very nice surprise.

Apparently there are still more cuts in store for Tuesday, but what they've done in the past couple days has really tightened things up.  The audience was VERY receptive and stopped the show at least twice and I think three times.

There's been one song change, it's just a different reprise - I Miss the Music instead of Thinking of Him, but it worked a lot better.

I'm really not obsessed with the show. It's just the first time I've ever had a chance to see a show in progress like this, where it's the writer, composer and director actually re-writing the show as it is put together.  The process fascinates me and I genuinely like the show.  I can't imagine seeing the finished product over and over, but seeing it come together is really pretty cool.

Now to check on whether the interstate back home is open or not. Last I checked it was still closed.  Not sure what I'm going to do if it isn't open. I think I'll get to Omaha if I can, but that flight was cancelled today. So...vibes that the way home is clear!

There are worse things than being stranded on Broadway for an extra day or two :D

Well, I won't be stranded in New York because I can make it to Chicago and most likely to Omaha.  I did just see that they've opened I-29, so I'll probably be able to make it all the way home by tomorrow.  I'm ready to go home.

FJL, how much time should I allow to get to LaGuardia in the morning?  I'm going to go early just in case I need to re-route my trip.

Matt H.  It seems too early for BONES to end its season.

It was the DVD set for Season 1, and I watched the season finale of it.

Well, I'm not DR FJL, but...

As long as there's not a street fair going on on 9th Avenue and no parade down 5th Avenue, I'd say allow 45 minutes tops to get to LGA in the morning.  You'll probably make it there in 30.

And be sure to check if you can sign up for stand-by online.  I was able to do that on Northwest when I flew back from Memphis a few weeks ago.  -And that really came in handy.

What time is your flight supposed to leave?

It leaves at 11:00 am or so, I'll have to look.  I am checking a bag, so I'm not sure standby is an option.

I watched another episode of BONES to begin my evening once I returned from dog tending.

This was the one that featured the discovery of pirate bones offshore that required Dr. Hodgins to go diving for more and possibly even pirate gold. An interesting episode but not the best mystery since, by the end, there was really only one suspect still alive.

DR Cillaliz - On Northwest, online stand-by sign up starts three hours before the flight leaves.  Check or call to see what our airline requires/allows.

I really don't think I want to have a flight any earlier than that.  This way I can get up, get breakfast in the Cafe then check out and head to the airport

Cilla - I usually fly out of Newark, and have only flown out of LaGuardia once in several years, and that was with a cab driver who got totally lost, so it took close to an hour. :(   Maybe Jose or Larry could answer how much time to leave on a Sunday morning.  In any event, I'd make sure the driver knows how to get to LaGuardia

Thank you so much, DR Cillaliz, for sharing your experiences and impressions of CURTAINS. I was interested in seeing it anyway since I love Kander & Ebb and love mysteries. After reading your enthusiasm for the show, now I'm very eager to see it.

Thanks again.
