That's for sure: one never knows

So, instead of always putting the blame on Jose, we should give him a break and put the blame on one!

I'll drink to that!

Does anyone know Oz singer Julie Anthony, apart from DR Tomovoz?

Yes, that is a question!

Ah!

She is a wonderful singer who was the UK Debbie Reynolds for the revival of IRENE!

Where Debbie's singing voice is sweet, Julie's scrumptious!

Who says so! I say so!...

I know, I know; who cares?

Well, I do! I guess! I mean... I'm not sure!

Anyway!

Yes, Julie Anthony!

Here's a nice write-up about her.

Good Morning!

Well... When we got out of the van, we noticed that the doors to the hotel bar were locked.  They were closed.  -And that was after they had told us they would stay open late for us.  Ah, well...

So, a couple of us gathered in a room, ordered pizza, and brought in bottles of wine.  Good times!  And one of the guys in the cast has a great theatre/TV archive clip collection, so we watched a couple classic and near-classic moments.  Ann-Margret, Joey Heatherton, Lainie Kazan (doing and amazing rendition of "The Trolley Song")... and we finished the evening with Leslie Uggams's classic rendition of "Spring Is Busting Out All Over".

Good people.  Good times.

OH!  And there was this clip from the Carol Burnett show, circa 1967, with Harvey Korman doing a take-off on Mr. Blackwell's worst dressed list.  And I have to say, it's amazing that they could have gotten with some of the dialog back then.  There's certainly no way they could get away with that nowadays - at least on network TV.  In any case...

My favorite line:

"I once saw here in a peek-a-boo dress.  I took one peek at her, and said "boo"."

Wrote another page and a half for a total of eight and a half pages - just in a very difficult exposition section - this last twelve to fifteen pages has all been the howdunit section, and I just hope it's interesting because it's a LOT of information about a lot of things - very talky, but, you know, it's a mystery and you've got to explain everything within an inch of its life.  I'm sure there's stuff to clean up (although I went back and cleaned up what I'd written earlier) and I'll have to see how it reads tomorrow, but I'd say I'm within ten pages of being done.  Whew!

It was so lovely to finally meet edisaurus and her ever-lovin' Greg, and they should be VERY proud of their film.  There was a nice-sized crowd and a Q&A with the director afterwards.

I wonder if I'll finish the book tomorrow or Sunday?  Tomorrow is quite disjointed, as she of the Evil Eye will be here, so I have to be gone for three hours, then I'll only be back for ninety minutes before rehearsal, then I'll only have two hours before dinner.  So, we shall see.  I'll also have batch two of sale CDs here tomorrow, so I'll try to get the list done and up before I go off to dinner.

...And we made it through the show today too!  There are a few sections we have to go back and smooth out, but, all in all, it was a pretty good tech today.  The sitzprobe is tomorrow night, and that should be fun too.

Julie Anthony was lead singer for Oz group The Seekers (Georgie Girl) for a while. (replacing Judith Durham).

I add a few of the less well known Bacharach tunes to my Hal David compilation today:
Long Ago Last Summer - Diana Trask
Anonymous Phone Call - Bobby Vee
After The Fox - The Hollies & Peter Sellers.

But...but...we took pictures at the brunch!
