Good morning!

It's a beautiful morning here with pleasant temperatures and tons of blue sky. Gorgeous. Supposed to get up to 80 today. Should be a great day inside and outside.

I know I'm watching LUCKY ME today to finish up the Doris Day boxed set. I suspect MEMENTO will be watched on Blu-ray tonight. What will come in the middle is anyone's guess, but I'm leaning toward the DVD first season set of MAUDE.

Unusual day of TV a bit.

CBS' procedurals (COLD CASE and WITHOUT A TRACE) are preempted by the Dean Cain movie CROSSROADS.

ABC has a new episode of DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES but a repeat of BROTHERS & SISTERS.

Of course, there are new episodes of THE SOPRANOS, ENTOURAGE and THE TUDORS.

And RENO 911!, of course.

Was ON MOONLIGHT BAY shot in 3-strip Technicolor in 1951 or had they switched to the single strip process by then?

I like LUCKY ME, but there are so many LONG SHOTS of the doubles on location that switch to process shots and the stars that it becomes a distraction!

And speaking of Thornton Wilder, it's time for me to head for the train.  (Yes, I will be taking the earlier train up today.)  We only have one show today, so I should be back in the city by 7:00.  Deluges permitting.  -Sheesh, was that just a week ago?!?!?!  In any case...

It was indeed in 3-strip Technicolor

Monopack Technicolor was introduced in 1949, but three strip Technicolor continued to be used until 1955 for certain films.

I gave it one more viewing last night before deleting it from Tivo.  Act III is wonderful!  And enough cannot be said about Sada Thompson!

I want to re-read the play, but I was shocked to find that my copy of Wilder plays is gone from my library.  I need to make a trip to Barnes and Nobel this afternoon to pick up a copy.

I've had LUCKY ME on laserdisc for years, but I've only watched it twice. It has never been one of my favorites of hers, but I'm curious to see what it looks like in an enhanced transfer.

Today could be the day I get my haircut.  It all depends on Derrick's availability at Cutting Crew.

I just preordered two of the Camp Cult Classics sets:

50 FOOT WOMAN/QUEEN OF OUTER SPACE/GIANT BEHEMOTH

and

LAND OF THE PHARAOHS/COLOSSUS OF RHODES/THE PRODIGAL

I ordered the same two sets last night!

I guess THE GIANT BEHEMOTH is about a really big giant.

Since I believe the BIG FAT CONDUCTOR is an insane pig as well as an arrogant, tone-deaf ass, I don't know quite how he's going to react.  It's a bit unsettling.

More Fun For The Day:

Things That Only Happen In The Movies

Favorite extracts:

Quote
No matter how savagely a spaceship is attacked, its internal gravity system is never damaged.

If being chased through a city you can usually take cover in a passing St Patrick’s Day parade - at any time of the year.

All beds have special L-shaped sheets that reach to armpit level on a woman but only up to the waist of the man lying beside her.

During all police investigations it will be necessary to visit a strip club at least once.

I received it in an Email from a CA friend; however, it is also available at North Carolina's Fallen Officers Web Site

Extras call for Spiderman IV?

April 18: In this photo released by the Sports&News photo service, planes perform a 'reconnaissance flight' over Botafuogo Bay in front of the Christ statue on Corcovado hill in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Some of the world's top racing pilots are in Brazil preparing for the second leg of the Red Bull Air Race World Series.
