THE BILINGUAL SUSPENDERS

Well, you've read the notes, the notes were bilingual and had both belt and suspenders, and now it is time for you to post until the bilingual cows come home.

Around The World in 80 Days .
I remember the roller coaster gimmick intro to the programme too. Very like Cinerama at the time.

I remember enjoying the experience of watching the "biggness". I was also lucky enough to see the first half dozen cinerama releases. Born at the right time for so much.

I think DR Jane uses a Verbigerator for the storage of vegetarian meals.

Surprise guest for Fred's Birthday party?

Always useful are vibes DR George.  Even just for the Halibut. (No doubt a Fozzie Bear reference)

TOD:

I think I was there for most of the "firsts"

1952 Cinerama This Is Cinerama
1953 Cinemascope The Robe
1955 ToddAO Oklahoma!
1959 UltraPanavision (70mm) Ben Hur
1959 SuperPanavision (70mm) The Big Fisherman
1963 Cinerama 70mm It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World

(I actually saw the second Cinemascope film, The Egyptian, before I saw the Robe)

(I also thought the second ToddAO, Around the World in Eighty Days, showed off the process better than Oklahoma!)

If Mary Poppins was originally released in 70mil then that was the first for me.

But the one I know for sure was The Sound of Music 70mil and Todd-A0.

Never saw a true Cinerama film.

Saw 2001: Space Oddyssey not in a Cinerama theater but in a "neighborhood house" so it might have been Superpanavision 70.

Now not quite sure if the following flicks where large screen by the time I saw them but Funny Girl, Oliver & Thoroughly Modern Millie

Saw Ben-Hur on a re-release so not sure if it was Ultra Panavision.

Also saw The 10 Commandements on a re-release as well but not sure if it was in VistaVision or not

Good morning, all!  I have a trip to the post office, Toyland, and the NYPL in my schedule today.  Beyond that, it's anyone's guess.

TOD:
THE SEVEN WONDERS OF THE WORLD (Cinerama)
THE SLEEPING BEAUTY (Technirama-70, as I recall)

Good morning all. I'm hoping today will be a quiet day. No court scheduled so far so it should be an office day.  With everything that has been going on a quiet office day would be most welcome

I do like the idea of bilingual suspenders...I could wear them to the Cinco de Mayo festivities on Saturday

DR Cillaliz...

I was wondering, if during the course of your work day, you are required to track billable hours.  I would hate it if I had to to that!

[how would I record all the time spent at HHW, for example?   :) ]

TOD

I suppose the first 70mm films I remember seeing were AROUND THE WORLD IN 80 DAYS AND BEN HUR.  I saw both of those at Tacoma's Temple Theatre, where I saw all of the road show engagement films.

You will notice in the photo the spelling of Vodvil (vaudeville)  This may have been the beginning of Washington State's confusion over Mary, marry, and merry.

The Temple also had a 2/9 Kimball organ that was installed in 1926, and is still there today.  I have no idea what a 2/9 Kimball is, or was, but I thought MusicGuy would know.
