Saturday morning greetings!  Today's an abbreviated day of information-waitressing - I'll be leaving at 2pm in order to attend the Evening Prayer service during which DH Richard will be confirmed into the Anglican church.

I never got Jerrry Lewis.

Although I liked him in King Of Comedy and gave an amazing performance earlier this season in Law and Order: SUV. I didn't recognized him at first!

Good morning, all!  I don't believe the ibuprofen prescription is doing a damned thing.  I need drugs, real drugs!

I've got a lot of writing today, and a noon trip to the NYPL.  I will most likely spend my evening prone with a heating pad.  Again.  I do hope this back snaps out of it soon because my social life next week is heating up: a play reading on Monday, Encores! on Wednesday, dinner with friends on Tuesday,  luncheon and dinner dates on Thursday, and that's enough.

Skip asked what i wanted to do for my belated birthday celebration, and I said I wanted to see Tom and Antonia's show.  So we'll hie ourselves over from 43rd & 10th all the way to 43rd & 8th (hope we can get a cab :) :)  ) and see the Potluck Plays either this afternoon or tonight.

How wonderful!  You could have picked any of the legendary duos of the stage (Lunt & Fontaine, Tandy & Cronyn, Simon & Schuster); but instead you chose Tom and Antonia.

Oy - we are majorly short-staffed here in my department today and now I feel majorly guilty about the arrangements I made to leave early.  Oh, well, guess I'll get over it.

Good morning and a very Happy Birthday to our DR George!!!!

I know my posts have been short the past couple of times.  It is a lot harder then I thought it would be to try to go to work, home and here.  I'm just so tired.

Mom had a bit of a bad night.  She was in a lot of pain from her hip.  They had to give her 3 doses of whatever pain meds they give her  before she felt ok.  Now she is kinda loopie.  She's asking me all kinds of strange questions--are the dogs in--am I going to church on Sunday--etc.  I think the meds really have her out of it.

The doctor was in this morning.  She said she is stable but she is in no hurry to move her anyplace.  They have her on the waiting list for the more permanent home in Sun City.  I dread that because as far as this place is, Sun City is even further away.

I'm burning at least a quarter of a tank of gas every other day so as it is.  I know I couldn't afford to go everyday if she goes there.  Sigh.

I'm doing better.  I bought some ST Johns Wort to help with my moods and it is helping.  I tryed to get in touch with my doctor the other day but that was real joke.  By the time I got them to pick up the phone (at noon), they told me they didn't have any openings.

So far, the weather has been with us and it hasn't rained.  I know we need it but I don't want the dogs to be outside in a storm.  What I'm going to do about that when I'm at work, I don't know.  I may have to invest in a doggie door of some sort to let them into the house.

Good morning!

It's overcast and rainy here. Not quite as cool as yesterday but it's still not supposed to get out of the 60s today. If it GOT to 60 yesterday, I'd be surprised.

Topic O' the Day:

Among sound films, anything by the Marx Brothers, of course. Chaplin's MODERN TIMES fits the bill.

And my all-time favorite: THE GREAT RACE

Among silents: anything by Chaplin (particularly THE CIRCUS) or Keaton is special.

I saw the DVR recording something this morning, but I can't remember for the life of me what I set it to pick up. I'll find out later when I fire up the home theater.

I still have SCRUBS to watch from this past week, and then plan to dive into the second discs in ARMY OF SHADOWS and DREAMGIRLS.

Tonight on HBO-HD is the paycable premiere of THE BREAK-UP with Jennifer Aniston and Vince Vaughn. Once again, I didn't see this in theaters or on DVD, so this will be my first experience with it. It was a big hit for them, but from what I understand, it's not really the romantic comedy the trailers suggested it is, so I'm intrigued by what it might turn out to be.

I'm not a fan of solo Lewis either though I did think he was remarkable in THE KING OF COMEDY and definitely deserved a best supporting Oscar nomination.

TCM did a night of Jerry also this week, didn't they?

And the word of the day is: SIPID!
The DIPS I love are loaded with horseradish, chiles, and other SIPID flavors.
