Voldemort is basically a middle school girl: he has a locket, a diary, a tiara, a ring, and is completely obsessed with a teenage boy.

I bought my copy of "Queen of The Stardust" only a couple of years ago.
It certainly wasn't expensive then. (Usually I pay about the same amount for postage from the USA  as I do for the DVD,so I look for "cheap")

Dr Tom: 'mornin' Mate

Yesterday you mentioned "Australia" - the movie, not the big island continent nation.

An IMDB Fan Site has photos:

I presume the flag is a Governor's flag.

I know the movie is set in "Darwin".  There was no Governor of the Territory and thus no Government House.  I Can't really explain the presence of the Union Jack.

The flag would have been flying has the Governor General been visiting Darwin but that seems doubtful.

All a mystery.  Of course employing Ms Kidman as an actress seems a mystery to me too.  I hope Mr Jackman does a better job than he did (Ok it was the script etc) than he did in Van Helsing.

I guess I should watch when it's released, I might learn something.

I will not admit I did not know Australia had been attached in WWII

I liked her in her less pretentious outings like The Others, and Panic Room

Hi, Der B and Tom. It's a ritual as reliable as Ben's oatmeal bowl---a certain cat will wake me up at 5 for a "treat".

And now that I'm caught up I will return to my slumber, even though I'm irritated by the dreck printed in the newspaper.

Ballroom, based on Queen of the Stardust Ballroom, returned to the stage via the Long Beach Civic Light Opera in 1992, once again retitled Queen of the Stardust Ballroom.  The plot songs were reinstated, and more material was written.

The production starred Tyne Daly in the Stapleton role, and Charles Durning returning as her suitor.  I found their pairing remarkable in their lack of chemestry.  She was fantastic, he was fantastic, and together they were fantastic minus fantastic.  That's the way things go sometimes.

And the word of the day is: IDIOLECT!
When Alice tried to recite the famous Jabberwocky, she found that the poem so countered her own IDIOLECT that IT COILED in her mouth and nearly bit her!

I'm trying to think of a less-than-wonderful performance by Ms. Stapleton.

Nope.  Can't be done.

I shall now depart, for a wonderful day of pavement pounding and cart wrangling.

I wonder if the self-check registers are working again.

One of the perks of working the carts - I simultaneously get to work on my farmer tan.

Golden arms, pasty shoulders.  That's my look for this summer.

I have always loved the television film Queen of the Stardust Ballroom, and saw Michael Bennett's stage version, Ballroom, out of town before it came into New York, when some of the book songs were still intact.  I was ever so grateful to bk for dusting them off and recording them some years back!

I thought it sounded familiar!?!  IDIOLECT was also the WOD on March 24, 2007!

But it bears repeating...
