MR BRUSHES KIMMEL - if one of your California ladies doesn't make it to NYC, I vote for Ms Lisa Mandel to take over the role....the mother or the space gal....

"Lost" Spoilage...!

I, too, was mesmerized by the finale last night.  I thought the "Jack story" (flashforward?) was disturbing...and it was painful to watch him destroying himself.

I, too, was confused by the reference to "call my father's office..."  It seemed to validate that his father IS alive...so it appeared to be a flashBACK.

As Jennifer has reported, the final one of these scenes indicated it was a flashFORWARD because the scene between Jack and Kate -- and the reference to the "Golden Pass" (Oceanic, I presume) -- was totally in the future tense.

I agree about Charlie -- he could have escaped.  In fact, even though he was in that flooded hatch, presumably drowning (but on this island, who can say what "death" is?), there was an open porthole that looked large enough for him (and his scrawny frame) to escape through in order for him to reach the surface.  Thus, Desmond's vision would have been real, but Charlie would survive.  And who knows....

I was really glad Hurley had his "moment".  I thought the scene last week between him and Charlie was rather touching, especially given the bluntness of Charlie's reference to Hurley's size and its incompatibility with the canoe.  Sawyer was rather ugly last night, too....it was great to see Hurley save the day.

I felt really torn about Sawyer killing that guy on the beach, especially since he had given up.  This was the guy who defied Ben's orders and did NOT kill the three men on the beach.  He was always portrayed as a "probable" good guy.  There may be repercussions for Sawyer on that move.

Locke seeing Walt next to the pit was interesting.  I think it may have been Jacob/the island using the image of Walt, and his previous closeness with Locke, as a means of communicating/saving Locke from his death (by suicide) in the pit rather than an actual manifestation by Walt as some protective overseer.

Oh... As for that frog on the balcony...  Well...

Sometimes a frog is just a frog.

Jimmy Webb most certainly DID sing his own songs.  I've enjoyed several of his albums.  He just never had any hits from singing his own songs.

His solo vocal of "Highwayman" is miles and miles above the quartet done by Nelson-Kristofferson-et al.  The song needs to be sung by one person for it to make any sense - it's about reincarnation.

Yeah... That's what I meant.  ;)

I just recently discovered Jimmy Webb after listening to Linda Ronstandt do a couple of tunes in concert a couple of times.  Good stuff.

Due to der Brucer's continually watching one show "live" all season, while recording another, and my schedule (both working and cooking) causing yet another conflict. he and I are so far behind on watching Lost that we won't be catching up to the finale for weeks yet.

The good news is that, by the time we do get to the finale, we'll have forgotten every spoiler that's been posted here today.

SPOILER

HA!!!!!!  THAT'S COOL!!

SPOILER

So... The one theory that keeps kicking around in my head, is that for whatever reason - known and unknown - everyone was supposed to stay on the island.  Consequently...

-Whoever was in the casket, killed himself.  Or at least allowed himself to die.  I mean, if Jack, was about to kill himself...

-Is it possible that the "flash-forward" took place eight years in the future, and the woman and the eight year-old boy who Jack saved on the bridge were...  Maybe that's why that guy at the pharmacy said he was hero for the second time.  ???

Hmmm.  I could venture a guess that Ben's comment about the freighter coming to the island would see them all killed COULD mean that they'd all -- EVENTUALLY -- die as a result.  I think Jennifer alluded to that in an earlier post.

That second point above, Jose....I don't follow, and I very much want to.  The woman and the boy were who?  Claire and Aaron?  Or...?

Jose, if you can find it there's a fantastic recording by Webb, a long track, on his Land's End album.  The two melodies are "Land's End", an instrumental evoking flight, and "Asleep On the Wind," a love song that extends the soaring feeling of the instrumental.  Great stuff.

I propose we stop referrring to Dubya as "president".  I think "Butcher Bush" is more apropos.

I agree with Carter. Worst. President. Ever.

Hmm...

And I think I'm about due for another P.L. Newman Burger from the Dressing Room.

What time do you want to pick me up at the train station?

*Although, that wouldn't be such a bad thing to consider.  And since I can still get the staff rate on tickets.. Hmm..

And was the car crash on the bridge really an accident?   Which it could have been.  And was it the car they showed coming at Jack in the shot before?  Or had that car come and gone?  And/or is pat of Jack's guilt the fact that by leaving his car on the bridge, he caused the accident.

Hi Lovelies..........this is just a quick note for dear DR MBarnum -- Your package arrived yesterday, and I'm having a chance to look through it today.  I see some things that I think would be nifty in the new "theatre room."

You need to let me know $$  for the 11x14 cards.... Thanks a bunch!
