Lunchtime here.  I have that itchy "I'm-gonna-be-off-for-a-few-days" feeling that I always get before a vacation or extended weekend.  Could be a long afternoon.

I'm so glad DR Danise will have a few days to regroup before having to go back to work.

Is there anyone here who's watching On the Lot who can tell me who that elderly bald character actor in the homeless man/peanut butter allergy short film was?  He's evidently going to be in other segments, since I saw him in the tease last night for Monday's show (is this show ever going to have a regular night)?  The guy looks incredibly familiar--I know I've seen him in a film or tv show, and it's driving me slightly batty (a short, somewhat scenic drive).

I have several signed Rozsa items, including the LP of Providence, one of my favorite Rozsa scores - Tony Thomas used to get them signed for me.  I was supposed to go meet Rozsa, who, at that time was bed-ridden, but then he died.

I also have a signed Friedhofer CD or LP (can't remember which), as well as other.  I'd have to go through all my Varese CDs to find them, but I used to like having signed things like that.

When I was little, we had a school field trip to Indiana University Northwest in Gary, and there was a touring show of The Magic Show, only it was some kind of stripped down affair for kids called "Magic To Do." It had magic and some of the same songs. I wonder what the deal was with it, whether it was a sanctioned thing or what.

I am sick. Made it through winter with no sickness, then I got hit as the weather got nice. It reminds me of being sick in spring as a kid and being stuck in bed while hearing other kids playing outside.

Providence is also one of my favourite Rozsa scores.   BK were you at Rozsa's memorial service at the Bel-Air hotel?  It was perhaps my best day ever in Hollywood.

And I watched one excellent movie this week, a John Wayne film called ISLAND IN THE SKY,  I think. Man what a great movie. Wayne and some guys crash land their plane way up in the north and a bunch of his buddies come trying to rescue him. Lots of great acting. Wayne near tears at several points. Lloyd Nolan, always a master, Andy Devine great in a serious role, Alfalfa funny in a small role, this was a real classic with a powerful ending.

The song "Magic to Do" was from PIPPIN, I know. But the show I saw resembled THE MAGIC SHOW in form.

We would get some weird hybrid shows in NW Indiana that we were taken to see as field trips that we paid for, especially once they finished the Holiday Star Theater which was a major venue in the area. I remember a show that was like a mixture of YOU'RE A GOOD MAN CHARLIE BROWN and SNOOPY. And a musical WIZARD OF OZ.

You'll have to check out the whole thing sometime. On IMDB people seemed to say it was like a lost film for a lot of years but I guess it is on DVD now.

I've pretty much enjoyed all the John Wayne films I took in this week on TCM.  I skipped IN HARM'S WAY last night, though--I could never stand that movie.

TiVo users 'Idol's' big loser

"It was always our intention to bring the show in on time, but just as with any live sports, variety, awards or entertainment event, there is no way to absolutely guarantee that the show will end exactly on the hour. Fox and the producers apologize to those viewers who were inconvenienced."

To which I might say BULLSHIT (A Penn & Teller Reference)

Idol producers have positive real time control over their show - if they wanted it to end on time, it would end on time!
