Just saw that the Lucille Ball Collection comes out on DVD next week. Funny how when these releases are first announced, the dates seem SO far off, but then, before you know it, the time arrives.

Can't wait!

LUCY/MAME in anamorphic widescreen in just a few days!

I searched high and wide for the LUCY/MAME laserdisc, and I watched and enjoyed it as a guilty pleasure quite q few times. But like so many beloved laserdiscs, it will be retired once this DVD comes out.

Since Mame is a 70s film, we get a pretty good shot at decent color from Warners - they only really seem to screw up the films of the 50s and 60s and mostly the classics.  Go know.

Dear reader MattH should go to his HTF and inform them  that The Glenn Miller Story is now perfectly framed (the telecine operator mis-framed the first transfer).

This came in an email.  I'd never heard about this, but it seems reasonable, so I thought I'd pass it on.
Microwaving Water!

I didn't know about this, DR FJL. Thanks for passing it on. I have, however, heard enough other stories about problems with microwaving--from scientific sources--to have virtually stopped using my microwave oven. Not using it really isn't the inconvenience I expected. But I would have thought heating some water in it was one thing I could do quite safely! Oh, well.

I haven't seen the film yet, but I saw the play, THE HISTORY BOYS, in London with virtually the same cast.  It was brilliant!

I was very sorry to hear about Don Herbert's death.  I too was an enormous "Mr. Wizard" fan, and tried to never miss his TV show.

Also, dear Kerry informed me yesterday that Nellie Lutcher (sp?) had died.  hmmmmm,.... I wonder who's next?

Good Morning!

I'm up, I'm up... And the DHL man did it!

-Well, he buzzed the door "bell", and since I didn't hear anyone else running for the door - and, thankfully, he hung out for a few seconds - I went ahead and rushed out to the living room to buzz him in.  Of course, the package that was delivered this morning was not for me.  Ah, well... I'm up.
